It wasn't our lost that they left bc we had what good sense tells you to stick with, but, it was those teams gain bc they didn't have the tools in their war chest that we did, and we were able to trade them for other tools that we really needed to bring in with their scholarship!!!

From Chase Brice, to Kelly Bryant to Zerrick Cooper to Hunter Johnson - you these kids nothing but the best. Everytime they make a play the radio or TV announcer will wear out the phrase: "former Clemson Quarterback"!
Besides that; they all spent quality time here and are friends now and will likely die close friends with many of our Tigers players and students. It should just all be love as they pursue more P/T for themselves!

That’s ridiculous and unfounded. How can you see development of Wiles or TP, Brice or Hunter? They, rightfully, never got a chance to play. Being behind NFL talent will do that.
That’s like saying there’s been no development for Helms because he hasn’t jumped to the top of the depth chart. If he transferred to a smaller school and got a shot, would that be because of bad coaching too?

Latest report has DJ tipping the scales at a svelte 252 lbs! I’m guessing they won’t be running an RPO type offense.

Considering he never was a good fit for RPO, probably not. We will find out soon enough whether it was him or our system. Should be interesting to watch it unfold.
Um, no we won’t. Those are not the only two options. As miraculously as he got the yips, they could have gone away in the same manner. Has zero to do with Clemson, our style of play or our coaches

If he miraculously gets better it won't be purely because of his new coaches or his old coaches. We took a pure pocket passer and tried to make an RPO out of him. He was not comfortable making all the reads and took way too much time to make decisions which was not helped by a challenged offensive line. This led to a lot of inconsistency which we saw play out on the field.
In a new system that lets him stand in the pocket and simply find an open receiver, he has a chance to possibly perform better. And he has a very good line so protection should allow him the extra time he needs. If his accuracy issues creep up again and he loses his confidence then we know there is probably no system that will help him. But if he performs better than expected, the change of offensive scheme will have a lot to do with it.
No one is blaming Clemson for his failures. We were not going to change the whole offense of ours to play to his strengths and make the offense adapt to him. Dabo was trying to get him to adapt to us and it just didn't work. He won't have to be as uncomfortable in the OSU offense. It will be a more natural fit and also more in line with what he ran in high school where he was very successful.

So a pure passer should have been able to complete a 10 yard pass to an open receiver regardless of the style of offense. It’s silly at best to blame the last two years on the style of offense we ran

I think it was definitely our system. I said when we recruited him that it was a sign of our uhealthiness because we just got him because we could and knew that he was a pure pocket passer. People falsely believed Trevor was a pocket passer but he was clearly a dual threat m

People falsely believed Trevor was a pocket passer but he was clearly a dual threat cause the kid could run and throw

He wasn't as much slow of foot as he was slow to make good decisions and he held the ball too long. A good RPO has to be able to think on their feet, make quick reads/decisions, and then deliver the ball accurately. None of which were consistent strengths of his in our offense. Maybe sitting him in the pocket won't be either but if he delivers at OSU then you probably do assume he is more comfortable and performing better because of it.

Wish all three QBs the best!
Not sure why some seem to be afraid DJ has a good season. His success has zero to do with Clemson nor would the alternative. He is a Clemson so we should hope he has great success

TD me all you want. Truth hurts, doesn't it? As a runner, he was big plinko. As a passer he was big Stinko. I didn't hear ANY of these excuses when he set records filling in against Notre dame. He was billed as the next coming...in that loss. Only after he took the reigns for good did the talking heads fill the need to blame others for his short comings. Just saying.

Wish them all the best but I for one could care less to read anything more about DJ. He bashed our coaches and program... that was plenty patient with his inability to move the ball! New season new QB let's move on and GO TIGERS!

Bashed? He’s a 20 year old trying to find his way! He committed & loved Clemson and worked hard to become great at Clemson, it just didn’t work out for him.
Let’s always be respectful & quick to forgive players that sacrificed to play here, wish him well and move on. He wasn’t the right fit but he’s a good student & good young man. I pray he’ll be great at what God made him to do.

Bashed is a little harsh, but he didn't have many nice things to say. Especially considering how many chances he was given here after downright bad performances.
https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/sports/college/clemson/2023/04/23/clemson-football-quarterback-dj-uiagalelei-transfer-oregon-state/70143452007/
I still say, he must've been a great practice QB, that just locked up sometimes under the pressure of the game. I don't disagree that the RPO was not natural for him, and he never really looked comfortable in that offense.
That said, even when they gave him simple drop backs, he still missed plenty of wide open receivers by a lot. I wonder if we would have had more talent and less injuries at WR during his time, if we would have gone to a more traditional drop back offense, but felt we needed the RPO to freeze LBs and DBs to gain separation. We will probably never know.
I wish him the best at OSU and beyond, but I'm happy with the guys we have on the current team.

I have a feeling that Wiles is gonna be a really good QB . Southern Miss plays a softish schedule , he should be able to put up great numbers this year.

DJU - you should have NEVER slammed Clemson! Dani gave you way more playing time than you deserved. Don’t slam me - I’ve been a fan since in the womb in 1965 and was attended and graduated proudly from CU during the West and Hatfield eras. ALWAYS A CU Tiger - win or lose! 🐅💜🧡
