Didn't the Citadel run at will against this DL last season? This is a head scratcher for me, but I will admit that if Tom Allen has been able to install his coaching philosophy into this defensive unit, then the talent is definitely there to live up to the hype. However, I'm uncertain if Tom Allen has had the time to do that. I do know that we can all expect to see marked improvement with the defense year over year with a coach like Allen, but the verdict is still out for this season. If Clemson shows up and gets 11 sacks against Nussmeier for the season opener, and LSU runs for less than 50 yards then I certainly like Clemson's odds to go undefeated.
GO TIGERS! BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF EVERYBODY!

I think the biggest thing we will see is P Woods playing inside after dropping 20-30 lbs will cause havoc on opposing teams. With Parker and that Purdue guy playing DE and Sammy Brown in the middle, they are going to be just fine.

UGa ran off-tackle for huge gains the whole 2nd half last year. With a long TD.
The "not-good" Citadel team had a banner rushing day last year in DV.
Louisville's Isaac Brown had a field day running off-tackle. And our offense stumbled and bumbled all game, after a bye week. It was so bad most of the fans left early. (I don't remember seeing that before.)
USuC's QB made our defenders look slow, with poor gap coverage. Texas ran several long TDs off-tackle.
In all of those cases, other games, too, our LBs, corners and safeties could not get-off of blocks. For the last 2 season openers, our offense and defense were not prepared for the opening game. Hopefully, Dabo and new DC Allen will have them ready for LSU. If not, it will be very embarrassing, again.
LSU will test our run defense. It better be ready. If not it will take another miracle to get into the play-offs again. Go, Clemson Tigers!

Our run D will way different. Held instead on Denhoff will make a huge difference. We have more depth now. We will run different schemes as well. It won't be similar. I am not at all worried.

What we seen happening to our defense last season was bc we didn't have a seasoned experienced DC that knew how to use the shelf full of quality talent. That DC lost his job for squandering all the D talent that a top DC could have had an undefeated season with!!!

Bingo, hammer hits nail square on the head!!! Even though Wes clearly didn't have enough experience to guide all the D talent that he had to work with. It was 100% Dabo's fault that Wes Goodwin was put in the failing situation that he was in since his first day as our DC!!!

I’m very cautious by nature. At this point I’m willing to forecast that we will win at least 7 games this season. I give us an 88% chance of winning it all. The season forecast can change week to week. Winning it all is locked in at 88% Just sitt’n around eating buttermilk and cornbread with nothin better to do I cam up with this nonsense.

I swore off the optimistic "Kool-Aid" of all the pundits and know-it-alls after the 2019 season. Citadel ran all over us last year and USuC gashed us at will. No more singing praises and forecasting X win seasons and Heisman candidates. All eyes and focus need to be on LSU bc they're gonna tell us about everything we need to know about this team. No Kool-Aid!! Line up, man up, and DELIVER!! Go TIGERS!! Beat the tigers!!

Last years team lacked fire and accountability.
That's related to the comparison of the 2018 team to the 81 team.
Those boys would jump your **** If you messed up.
It ain't fun but ya gotta have.
If your team has great relationships with one another it's appreciated and not personal
That's the problem with a portal laden team. They lack strong relationships and cohesion

Many of you underestimate the Allen/Boulware effect

Go back and watch Penn State's defense from last year. They played fast and angry. They scared offenses, like the BV defenses used to.
I liked Wes, but there's no doubt that he didn't get the best out of PWoo, Parker, Brown, and Woodaz. He was not a leader. Allen is.
The talent is definitely there. Allen/Boulware bring the knowledge and the heat.
I predict our Defense will look significantly better than last year.
