SMH. We are lucky if we’re ranked and even make the post season. Forget hosting anything.

I mean and we have players going into homeplate not sliding.... that was a run and that's on the coach.

The #### coach on third base should've been drilling it in her head then if she doesn't bench her a$$.

I notice you’re always tearing down Rittman. His record speaks for itself. The man is chasing 1000 wins. He has turned Regan Spencer from a scrub with little confidence into a bonafide ace. He also guided Cagle to National player of the year. He built a program from scratch and made them legit from season one. The man teaches fundamentals well. He can’t make that easy play for Cagle with two outs in the top of the seventh to end the inning before any runs scored. I played softball semi-professionally for many years with stints on team DeMarini and the Coors Light Silver Bullets. I’ve coached men’s and women’s slow pitch and fast pitch teams and can say Rittman has done a fantastic job at Clemson. He can’t recruit like Oklahoma. He can’t recruit like FSU. But he sure gave both a run head-to-head. Please explain this Rittman hatred.

I was just answering the posters question on who's on 3rd base. Wasn't agreeing or disagreeing. No Rittman hatred. I've often said and posted he was the perfect coach to get us off the ground. Even though it's a lot easier to get a softball program started from scratch than to rebuild a broken one.
So you tell me, where have I spewed all this Rittman hate? I never once said he was responsible for the booted play by Val.

All correct but the real issue is we couldn't get the ball out the infield with Furman essentially playing Russian roulette... a little weak pop drops behind the D and it's base clearing.
Fundamentals.

Have you noticed this year how the opposing teams compared to the first 4 seasons have been coming thru a lot more in the clutch in the late innings/extra innings in close games.I've noticed this season so far and unlike the first 4 seasons that the longer the Tigers have let the opposing team hang around that the game has ended in a loss.

Coaches can coach his players the right way that things are supposed to be done at practice day in and day out, but during a game after practice and the teaching has been done it's up to the players to do what they have been taught to do and when they fail to do it, that's on the player/players when they don't do it the way they have been coached to do it...
I don't know the way that things are done today, but when I played baseball in HS and a base runner rounds third base heading to home there was always a teammate waiting close to the Homeplate area to let the base runner know if the ball was coming home and to get down to avoid the tag. If that's done in the college game and the base runner gets tagged out bc they chose not to get their uniform dirty, the next day he/she would practice base sliding throughout the entire practice period, and the next time they were motioned to hit the dirt, they would plow up some dirt!!!

This team has a disconnect somewhere. For one thing, Logoleo has no business

playing shortstop. Her error today was on the most routine of ground balls. This seems to be a pattern in recent times. Valerie Cagle hasn't looked like Valerie Cagle either, but she IS recovering from illness, so she at least has an excuse.
As other posters have said, this one is an ugly loss, the kind that cost you hosting regionals.

Cost even getting into a regional tbh. The good news is besides Duke, the rest of our conference series are all bottom feeders. I haven't checked out the schedules for other teams but we're in 4th place but ga tech is right there at the moment.

Rittman, have you ever thought about going to the bench and try someone else. The definition of insanity is "playing" the same players over and over again but expecting different results. They came to Clemson to play. How about playing them.

I know Moore was out with a sore wrist but I didn't hear anything about Knowler. I had the volume down watching beiseball. Also, is Knowles in the love shack or something. What about let ruszkowski... I see them in the dugout. How do expect them to stay engaged if all they do is ride the pine. I noticed Bakich had plenty new faces in, and that was when the score was 0-0.
Just got through watching the lacrosse match. Kwolek had young ones from the get. A couple scored their first goal of their career. It was 7-7 at the half but she didn't panic. Sure, she could have played all starters and won 25-2. Who cares if it was 17-7. Now those young ones have tape and real live game action to only work harder.
Rittman has never done that in 5 years. Now paying the price.

Rittman is also paying the price with his overly aggressive base running at times. These softball players are not the fastest around except Clark or Oda.

Was just now looking at the team stats on the Softball page on ClemsonTigers.com and saw where so far thru 35 games Logoleo leads the team in errors with 10 and then A.Brown 8 and M.Moore 6...plenty of games this season have been lost because of errors, especially a good many of the close ones

I will bet you check out every team in the nation, infielders make the most errors on every team. Infielders make the most plays and most difficult plays, so your statement is ludicrous. The article was very protective of VC, who was personally responsible for three unearned runs, plus after her two run error she quit playing. Something is wrong with her more than her illness. Another poster mentioned this earlier, but I wrote off his theory. Now, I believe he is right. On JBS failure to slide, Oda should have been in position to let her know since the play was behind her. Not on the coach. It seems a number of posters blame the coach for everything. Players have to play.

I have never seen our ladies play so passively. What was THAT all about. It was almost like they really didn't want to be there? Even the fake enthusiasm and cheerleading in the dugout seemed lethargic. Just a bad day, I guess.
