Why would anyone listen to him? He told his quaterback not to eat chicken because it would make him weak as a football player.

One and done has ruined college basketball. Idiots like Harbaugh would ruin college football, if we listen to them.

Jim Harbaugh has done his best to try and screw up college FB ever since he got that job at Michigan. I wish he would go away, and I don't really care how he goes as long as he's gone, gone, gone!!!

Every Michigan fan I have talked with wants the nose picker gone also. Some are saying he is killing Michigan football and are really pi $ $ed that he isn't beating the Buckeyes.

play defense, have a terrible offense. Win games 17-14. 10-7, whatever.
All of a sudden a water boy from Louisiana will take over at QB and BAM. national title. I see what he's doing there, they should keep him.

Sorry, but the NCAA is a willing and eager partner with the NFL and NBA. The NCAA loves, absolutely loves, being THE minor league for those two sports.

I view it very differently.

I think the NCAA should grow a pair and do the following:
1. Make scholarships 4 year agreements. 2. If a player does not stay four years, due to leaving early for the draft, he must reimburse the school the remaining value of the scholarship. 3. Likewise, if a school revokes a player’s scholarship without cause, the school must still honor the academic aspect of the scholarship. 4. Refuse to allow players to be paid as student-athletes.
If people want a minor league system for the NFL, they can start one. But college isn’t the place for that. If that’s what people want college football to be about, then I’d prefer that Clemson not have a team.

Exactly! Why do they always want to make CFB more like the NFL? Leave it alone.

I like your idea. Mine would accomplish the same thing.
Kid signs a scholarship with you. He counts against the limit (85 football, 15 hoops, etc.) either until he graduates or for 6 years, whichever comes first. No exceptions. If he transfers, tough. If he goes pro, tough. If he just quits, tough.
Quit recruiting kids who aren't interested in earning a degree.

They shouldn’t be able to leave early without being penalized.

Hey Jimmy Khaki Legs....if the NCAA does all that - you still won't be able to beat Ohio St or make the playoffs.
Want to improve the Michigan program? Go back to the NFL!

I guess this is the ONLY way he can compete with Ohio State. What a pathetic loser.
You're not going to out talent everyone Jim, how about an offensive game plan every once in a while? Michigan's looks like it was drawn up in the stone age.

Why would school pay if player leaves & comes back
May 8, 2020, 10:04 AM
|
|
If a player leaves early to go pro, especially if it were after only 1 yr, the school's responsibility ends and the burden of returning goes back to the player.

Declaring for the NFL draft after HS or after freshman or sophomore years would be a waste of time, even if the NCAA made sweeping rules changes.
The NFL will not permit them to be drafted. This is the situation with the collective bargaining agreement between the Player's Union and the owners. The currently active agreement was ratified in 2020 and extends through the 2030 season.
The NFL CBA mandates that you must be out of high school for at least three years before you are eligible to play. If you graduate at 17 years old, that means you must wait until you are 20 to enter the NFL draft. If you graduate when you are 18, you will need to wait until you turn 21. This rule supposedly helps ensure that players are physically and mentally prepared to be part of the NFL. It also helps keep talent out of the league for another year or two, so that the union players currently in the league can get their reps before their usually brief pro careers are over.
So the only real change from hardball's proposal is that juniors who do not get drafted could come back if they did not get an agent or take any pay, plus some positives on completing degrees (which Clemson pretty much already does). I'm up for that.

This is bull. Why even go to college at all? Why commit? Why pledge? Why be loyal to a team? I hope his horrible idea gets crushed -- totally individualistic and self-serving.
I HATE it!

Harbaugh will end up doing something very stupid that will get him fired at Mich, and no other school will have a thing to do with him, just as he burt bridges in the NFL!!!

The funny part is that Dabo already does part of what he's asking for. Dabo wants players to come back and finish their degree and provides the opportunity. I'm all for that.

I dont like that we have come to this point, however i support most of what he is proposing however id have to tweak the part about paying for school after the NFL. I know what he is trying to do with that, but it breaks down if a kid leaves after a year to have the school on the hook.
The part about letting kids declare and test the waters without automatically losi g eligibility is great. The one time transfer rule rule ive also been in favor of.
Athletic departments and millionaire coaches are doing fine. And will do fine. Its past time to make changes to give the players who actually create most of the value that drive this huge economic enterprise a little more.
