At Cutdown time, a minor injury can get you sent to the IR so your coaching staff can have more time to decide which of your teammates to keep.

By all reports, if you can trust them, Tanner's future is not on the line. He has made the team. But putting Tanner on IR got someone else 2-4 more weeks of visibility when the games count.

I feel LB in the NFL is a great fit for him. I think that if he had another year with us he would have taken over in Simmons role. The kid is a thumper and can run like a deer. He is closer to what N NFL LB has evolved into with these wide open offenses. Even greats from the past wouldn't see the field in today's game.
