We need to use the Ship out of him. I loved seeing the profile of his hurdle on t-shirts up there in Tiger Town! Go Tigers!

Never said he wasn't an exciting and dynamic player. I've said repeatedly that he's a great player and should be used all over the field. What I said was that Mafah was the better pure running back, was selected to play with the starters before Shipley was held out, and until Dabo says otherwise, Mafah is the starter. Nothing this random reporter says changes any of that.

I'm not sure where people get the idea that Mafah is better. He's a more well rounded back, sure. But as far as effectiveness running the football no. Shipley is far and away better. Mafah isn't the starter and isn't on national lists. You guys have really weird dreams with this guy.

"Mafah is a move well rounded back", I don't understand that statement? Ship is much more "well rounded", can do many things, Mafah is a pure running back. Maybe you and I have a different opinion of WELL ROUNDED....

Look, I'm a bigger fan of Shipley than Mafah, as good as Mafah is. I just said more well rounded because I guess he looks the part more and between the tackles he theoretically should be better. My original point was that shipley is better. I'm just giving Mafah some credit here. But these people that think Mafah is the starter have no idea about football at all. I'll bet anyone 100 dollars that Shipley is our starter if he's healthy. He's an NFL talent. There's a reason he's on a top 10 RB list and Mafah isn't. To think a different guy is starting is insane. These guys probably thought DJ was better than Cade too.

I like how you first completely misdefine what well-rounded is, then make a stupid statement that people are clueless when Mafah was announced as the starter. Look at the depth chart. It doesn't mean that can't change. But the depth chart, which was released by the coaches before Shipley was hurt, listed Mafah as the starter.

Correction. *Before tigernet knew Shipley was REPORTED hurt. It's tendinitis in his knee man. Thats not an acute injury. The coaches were aware and put out a depth chart to reflect it. If you think shipley isn't starting because of some semi irrelevant spring depth chart you're clueless.

If given the chance, the other running back is really better than him so the best thing to do is put both of them on the field at the same time and make other teams pick their poison. Both of them can catch out of backfield, Ship is the speed back and Phil Mafah is the power back

He’s not even the best RB on the team, which is even scarier. We should have two 1000 yard rushers this season

We might. They need spread the ball around, including passing to TE and RB often.

Personally at the RB position I’m starting Mafah, and during the Spring game he looked like he had put on more muscle. Like a bruiser.
The comparisons on here I somewhat understand but if Mafah carried it as much as Shipley then maybe we could get a little bit better picture. I’m using Shipley in the slot with a few touches at RB. He needs to touch the ball a lot but if I need a RB to get me a few I’m giving it to Mafah 9 out of 10 times.
This is not intended as anything to initiate any kind of argument but more of what it is. My opinion.
