I absolutely agree with cuvatiger that it’s because of alcohol sales. It’s not a coincidence. Should have been done years ago in TD North where I sit. I’ve always wondered why we’ve never done this.

Fans in the Nose Bleed rows will be mighty happy about that...My 2 seats are 10 rows up from the bottom on North side in the upper deck which doesn't faze me any

Agreed. Long Overdue especially for the steep Top North Deck. The lower bowl from the portals down not nearly as bad without handrails. I think I would have just done the from the portal entrances up.

I don't know but I have always heard it called row and then the letter or number ever since I started going to the games way back in 1977

Yeah, I recall a guy taking a header down four rows of seats in the 90’s, and he took someone out. They left with the EMS and he was drunk and cuffed. That was in TDS.

Can not believe no one at Clemson Athletic Dept in all these many (35+ years) hasn’t demanded hand rails…
And maybe helmets, bandaid kits, or insurance policies!

on Cemetery Hill side. My thought was, that sucker was so steep, if I stumbled and fell, I wouldn't stop until I splashed onto Frank Howard Field. Maybe the handrails can save someone from this bloody fate.

My dad is a bit older and when he comes to games with me his safety going up and down the sections is a big concern.

Who is the first to straddle and go all the way down n the lower bowl. Free three pack of Hanes drawers for the first cause theirs will be a little thin at touchdown

There may be some football stadiums with steeper upper decks, probably are somewhere, but I haven't been to any.

I'm confused, I've sat in the north upper deck since 1984 and there have always been handrails. Maybe only added to the lower bowl?

I was thinking the same thing... was there always rails in the upper deck? I remember always their kind of being an up side and a down side on the rails to keep traffic flowing but there was always one person going the wrong way.

Another needed upgrade as most don’t just have bleachers anymore. Bring in the individual seats! If places like Louisville can afford it, why can’t Clemson?

Because it means less overall seats, not sure the % loss but it won’t be over 80k anymore

there is probably a way to calculate that and someone in the AD has done that. I suspect you would lose 12-15 % of capacity

I always thought these were a little low. Walking down the steps to this rail is a little unnerving.

Will definately need rails with the sale of beer. I remember something kind of funny and sad at the same time. The Panthers were playing their first season in the Valley. I was a track coach at an area high school. The Panthers offered to make contributions to HS atheletic Depts. if they would send coaches to the games as event staff. I was stationed at one of the portals at the lower north. Remember being a pro game there were beer sales. An announcement came out a few minutes before the end of the third quarter that beer sales would end at the quarters end. A fan about six or seven rows up from the portal. ( already looked like he had had a few beers too many ) jumped up, climbed over several people and headed for the beer stand. A short time later he came back with 2 beers , and they were large cups, in a carrier. He staggerd up the steps and about half way up stumbled and lost his beers creating a beautiful waterfall down the steps. He hurried out and a few minutes later came back with two more beers. This time he made it up the steps and started making his way down the row to his seat. He stumbled again giving those around him a good two beer shower. Followed by a flurry of cursing from the others he stubbled out again and through the portal. He did not come back this time. Not sure if hand rails would have helped. But this story ( which is true ) warns us to be ready for beer showers this fall.
