Our offense did zilch ..whatever grade he gave us was on D and Special Teams. He should have taken away points because of the offense. No excuse for the lack of scheme, playing calling and coaching.

I really hope it is the last year of his contract. It should be, and I’d say we’re due a reimbursement for the other years.

And, while I agree with your post, we still came pretty close to winning anyway. I was very disappointed with how we played, but maybe we are closer to turning a corner than it seemed. That’s assuming LSU really is good. That’s a big reach considering the bias shown to the sec by their darlings in the media.

Idk, i agree that Garrett hasn't exactly shown total promise in his air raid type offense, however I disagree that he didnt call plays that gave us a chance to win. Lack of execution on offense by the players caused this loss. There were multiple times Cade had open receivers and just didnt see them or on some plays, just threw the ball into the ground five yards behind. He also looked flustered and tried to escape the pocket when he didnt have to. That being said, the abandonment of the run really cost us. LSU knew we were throwing and pinned their ears back. We can't become one dimensional.

The truth is the score was 17-10 and it came down to the last play. Not exactly a "truth hurts" game. Did we make the adjustments? not enough to change the outcome.

the PI was at a critical time and no way that was a PI, in any sane person's mind. The PI does not happen the touchdown controversy does not happen so it's not like they even out... that aside we still should have done a whole lot better.

Game 1.

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Was this the Hampton PI? that was a PI no question....

not sure how it could be argued otherwise?

If we are be straight up, our DBs have battled the jersey tug issue for years...its clear Reed coaches them to do this as a technique/fundamental of the position and hope they don't call it continuously.

From the NCAA handbook

Section 4 Catch, Recovery, Possession

b.If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent) he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or in the end zone. This is also required for a player attempting to make a catch at the sideline and going to the ground out of bounds.

If he loses control of the ball which then touches the ground before he regains control, it is not a catch. If he regains control inbounds prior to the ball touching the ground it is a catch

Are you speaking of the player falling out of bounds in the end zone? Fundament statement of Football “Possesion of a a live ball in the opponents end zone is always a touchdown” whatever happens after that doesn’t matter. They ruled it that way later when receiver landed on his backside and hit the ground worth his arm and lost the ball.

This is incorrect. He was ruled as still being in the act of the catch and you have to control the ball as you go to the ground. If you catch a diving catch in the end zone. Then go to the ground and bobble it. It is not a touchdown because you got 2 feet in bounds. Same justification of the overturned catch.

Yes, many feel that the refs blew the call by ruling it incomplete, but it was the correct call according to the rule book for requirements of a TD catch. Maybe the rule needs to be changed, but it was an incomplete pass and LSU only scored 17 points in the game.
IMHO, Clemson should have been able to score more than 17 or even 24.

backwards and flailing out passes off his backfoot pretty much the whole game.

We have a really hard time of being fluid offensively. Because we have no running game threat, other than Cade getting yards on a busted play, it will be a reoccurring theme against teams with sound defenses.

I'll tell you this.... GT is looking to get their statement win in the conference in two weeks. We want to act like our circled games are few but GT is under the radar and licking their chops. You want to see meltdown mode on Tigernet just wait till that game goes down and we put up the same inefficient game plan. They don't have the defensive backfield that LSU has so there will be more opportunities to get more points throwing the ball but if we still run the ball ineptly then it will be a nail biter or worse.

On bright side I thought Clemson was better at tackling. Not many squeezed out of easy tackles like last year. But we still overpursue and we still don't counter the opposing teams game plan. We fell for the misdirection every time. No one was back side in case they cut back (which was pretty much all they did all game.) It was like watching the WVU game again with the jet sweep.. They just kept doing it until we could adjust. I mean you could see it happening but nothing changed. Frustrating to watch.

Is there a more dislikeable guy in college football than Brian Kelly? The guy has never won a meaningful postseason game in his life and everywhere he's been as a head coach gets better after he leaves. Do any LSU fans actually like the guy because Notre Dame people hated him.

But also, what are you doing Dabo? A 65 grade for LSU and a 58 second half grade for Clemson? They outgained us by like 50 yards in the second half and held us scoreless. Why does he continue to fall in to trap questions like this?

Clemson kept Clemson off the scoreboard, plenty of opportunities for Clemson.

Would be awesome to get them again in the playoff....

If you don’t won’t him to say then beat him, it’s simple. LSU outcoached the CU offensive staff, end of story. I can’t fathom the fact that CU literally had an entire offseason to scheme and prepare, came out in that environment and peed their pants the way they did. Completely baffling. With a senior QB at that.

Please don’t come back when we have success, which we will.

Dabo has recruited the portal for 4 years. Didn’t sign anyone until this year. Thing is, we have very little spots every year because we have the best retention in the country. Most every other team hemorrhages guys in the offseason and have to use the portal. We do not.

Just because we don’t lose 20 guys every year and fill a roster with portal guys, it doesn’t mean we’re doing it wrong. It has nothing to do with ego.

Please listen to others when they talk about Dabo. He’s a genuine down to earth person who is the same humble person to everyone who meets him. Those that get to know him long term continue with that appraisal

Some of you just have bizarre thought patterns and simply try too hard to find negative angles.

We lost a football game. Let’s leave the baseless judgment of the best coach in our history to ourselves until there’s something actually tangible to gripe about. Your forced take isn’t one of them.

NEVER do they seem to make any positive adjustments… if anything, they put the brakes on and play not to lose.

Sounds like Dabo was doing hallucinogenics at halftime if he REALLY thinks that there were any good things going on for his team in the 2nd half.

Brian Kelly is a nasty, miserable person. I wish we had demolished them but doubt it would have made any impact on him. His awfulness is innate.

More reasons not to like Brian Kelly. We could have and should have kicked his team's ####. LSU DBs could have and should have been called for PI several times. Hard to believe an LSU team that plays such tight/dirty coverage had ZERO PI calls. Rewatch the tape.

A pass play is not completed if the ball touches the ground and moves. If the guy was standing in the middle of the endzone and just fell over and the ball hit the ground and moved, it would be an incomplete pass. Props to the receiver getting to it and making the catch but he did not complete the catch. Did we get lucky-yes! Did the refs make the wrong call-No! I saw it the first replay-he was sliding and rolling and the ball moved-not a bunch but enough. I'll grant you it felt like we deserved to be scored on but the fact is that it was not a complete catch. ...and that was a SEC crew
