Venables on Texas Tech opening: "I have it all here at Clemson"
Texas Tech fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury after the Red Raiders finished with a third consecutive losing season, and Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is good friends with Kirby Hocutt, the Athletic Director at Texas Tech. None of that means Venables is ready to pack up and head to Lubbock.

Usually when they are saying they are happy where they're at, the next news is that they are going some where else. Would BV just pull up and leave us, personally I believe that he is a man of his word, and he has no interest in leaving Clemson specially with his son at Clemson. But that could change also, but no, IMO BV isn't leaving for Texas, but we never really know for sure!!!

And I wouldn't blame Venables for leaving either, even after his statements today. That's a lot of money to turn down, and most coaches want to be head coaches eventually. I'm glad BV likes it here, and I hope he stays for a long time. He'll be gone one way or another some day, so I'll appreciate him as long as he's at Clemson.

This guy is our next head coach. It's got to be something that has been discussed between he and Sweeney. He is such a good man with integrity. I believe he could recruit and close the deal with young players.

I live in Texas and Lubbock is the armpit of our state. Even I, as a proud Texan, would never willingly live in the city of Lubbock, or anywhere near it. It's so flat, treeless and ugly and the spring dust storms are the worst.
If he wants a head coaching job, he should wait for a better one. Texas Tech has never won a conference championship in the history of their school. That's a pretty incredible fact.
