It doesn't sound like he's terribly optimistic about our chances.

And he won't sound optimistic until around 3:30pm Saturday the 31st. Then he's going to let the world have it. Will be classic.

"Even if we win it" does not sound optimistic. Doesn't matter. The better team should win. I'm praying early and often its US!
Go Tigers!

If our head coach takes a given approach ( some what downplaying this game in relation to all the other games) then the players will take that approach per Dabo’s lead if you know what I mean.

IMHO, I think Dabo's message today about UGA is for the media and fans.. i.e., don't get too hung up on the first game of the season; win or lose. And I agree with that perspective. It's a long season and this is the first step. Barring injuries, both Clemson and UGA will be different and better teams by the end of the season. If we lose, we're not out of the playoff picture and if we win, we are not automatic bids either.
With that said, I'm 100% certain Dabo and the coaches will have a different message for the team, privately, about this game during camp and during game prep week. Clemson will be ready and motivated come game time and we have a shot; it's not like Clemson is Glass Joe going against Mike Tyson in his prime

The first game last year set the tone for half the season.

Sadly, I think you’re right about that. I think it opened eyes as to who really could play vs who they thought could. By season’s end, I think we found a recipe for victory. Having all our guys back and healthy, and adding a few pleasant surprises from our recruits and those who had to miss early games last year should give us a better look. I hope we see a puzzle that has been put together with all the right pieces, and a game plan to match. Go Tigers!

No question, Georgia is the best team we will play and we have to have our A game to be in the game.

Translation: Don't get hung up on a loss to Georgia and Cade hasn't improved much but may be a Heisman candidate his last season.
Translation: Very hard to win 10+ games but us and Alabama are the only two teams to win 9+ in blah, blah, blah.
He finds these meaningless stats and uses them to justify the downward spiral.
