I won't lie about it, but I think we have a bend, but don't break mentality on defense but still give up way to many big plays to the opposing offense.

After DJ5’s rushing TD was called back midway through the Third Quarter Clemson tried to put the game on ICE by just running the ball. Particularly after an impressive goal line stand in the 4th Quarter, followed-up by a terrible 3-and-out with a punt!
I don’t recall another downfield pass in the 4th Quarter. They tried to dump the game on the Defense, instead of maintaining ball ? possession in the 4th quarter. A dangerous gamble! We need to keep scoring for 4 Quarters, no matter how big the lead.
Go Tigers, Beat Syracuse!!!

He knows these games are televised right, where all can see? He loses credibility by trying to bs us about what we saw. If it wasn’t conservative, the only plays less would be continuous QB kneel downs. At least be honest and own it, regardless of who was actually making the calls.

If Streeter really believes what he is saying, then he is telling Dabo that he made a serious mistake in hiring him as OC bc, he's totally inadequate as a top tier college Offensive Coordinator!!!!!

Angry, but I hear you...running DJ on 3rd and 18 speaks differently. Yes, he is running better, but not so much on the designed stuff. Quick and shifty he ain't.

I am not a coach but I think Clemson went into the 4th quarter with the mind set of playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

I've been watching Clemson football for over 65 years, and this has ALWAYS been the case: get a lead and sit on it. Best way to lose a football game is to stop "playing to win." Good heavens... keep doing what got you the lead! Not trying to be negative, just realistic.
I agree with Dabo that the defense "lost its mind" in the 4th quarter... but so did the offensive play calling.
Go Tigers! Beat 'Cuse...

Brandon must forget we have eyes and can see the game. Don’t get me wrong, he is better than Tony Elliot who was either oblivious or too stubborn to change things up, but he still has room to grow.

Is that why we ran DJ on 3rd and 18?
I’m actually not all the upset about us going conservative, the odds of them coming back were always small. I’m okay with the risk mitigation.
But why are we trying to pretend like we didn’t go conservative to run clock and protect the ball?

hard to argue with the results but if FSU had converted that onside kick and scored there would be a lot more talk about that 3 and 18 call.
But they didn't so.....

Then our attack mode sucks...we looked trashy most of third qts and much of the 4th! Offense and defense didn't play hard for a full game! Anytime we win on the road it's a pretty good win but it will not impress the ESPN, cbs, abc,ABC, crowd...they vote and they get to pick to support revenue and tv ratings!

comparing Streeter to Elliott, or giving Streeter credit for successful calls, or berate his failed “bubble screens” . . . Please keep one fact in mind . . .
*** When we are on offense, Dabo has the play sheet in hand . . . earphones and mic are in place . . . and his tongue is constantly “wagging” as he stays in Streeter’s ear . . . ***
This is Dabo’s Team . . . since he’s been “The Man” and until he chooses to retire or move on . . . we will do things HIS WAY.
Don’t kid yourself into thinking he doesn’t have 100% control of EVERY play that is called.
I am good with whatever he chooses.

My thought as well. Watching Dabo on the sideline on offense, he looks at his play sheet and comments on virtually every play. We have a new OC and I personally think Dabo and Street work together like co-coordinators on offense. It’s worked well so far, so not criticizing it, just throwing out what I think the situation is this year.

If what you're saying is actual fact, then that means that Dabo is what has been said about him, and that's he's a great CEO, but not a good coach, and I would rather have him as the CEO bc it worked really well, and it got our team in 6 playoff games, 4 NCG's, and two NC wins. I like the CEO Dabo much better than Dabo the OC!!!!

Such nonsense from Streeter. Possibly the worst series I’ve ever seen was after our D made the stop on 4th down. That was the most uninspired, lazy play-calling I have ever seen…and we gave them the ball right back in about 20 seconds and, sure enough, they scored.

Not to disparage OC Streeter but the play calling became vanilla before the third quarter ended. This was earlier than usual in my opinion. Too early in my opinion. With a mixture of plays , not three running plays with too many qb runs mixed in. Any coach worth a small salary knows that’s how Clemson calls plays for the last few years. We could have scored again several times with a mixture of plays. Their will would have been broken . I know it don’t matter but that’s why we dropped in the polls .

Someone posted on another site there were only 3 catches by the WRs the last being A Williams last at 9.09 left in the 2nd quarter. He was never targeted again while Ngata had 2 and Collins one all incomplete. Willams two catches accounted for 37% of the passing game and I don't recall the TEs targeted in the last half in addition to the slot wr. Appears a very conservative approach to me. Feel the series after the goal line stand should've featured Mafah (sp?).

book called CYA and all of you know what it means. After going up 20 and keeping your foot on their throat the offense got disrespect from the coaches because they were not trusted to keep it full throttle. Clemson's offensive line has not shown yet when it's time move people out of the way they can't seem to stay on blocks and are out muscled. With a lead like the Tigers had the name of the game is to keep the chains moving. On another note the defense did not play consistent like a #5 or higher defense should do. Smelled like sand bagging. Will coaches and players get it right or will a " o that's good enough" mind set continue to be the standard. We will see.

I do not buy into the "playing conservative" concept. I buy into "What are we doing?" and "What do we need to do?" concepts.
"What do we need to do?" I answer in do and do nots. Do complete drives with touchdowns and field goals. If you can build onto your lead and win easier, score and win. Do not nurse leads to the end of the game. Teams get comfortable with slight leads. The concept backfires with opponents scoring, taking leads, and winning. Do not let defense lose focus. The first and fourth quarters were horrid for defense. The second and third quarters looked better.

Streeter obviously doesn't watch other teams on TV. The root cause for the conservatism of Clemson's football play calling is Dabo Swinney. He does admit he is involved at least 50% in offensive play selection. Many other teams use a wide diversity of plays whereas Clemson uses the same worn out plays used for years. I don't understand the continued effort, with little to no success, to throw to the side lines so frequently. As far as I know, no touchdown has ever been scored crossing the side lines. You can't argue with Dabo's success in winning but, why does each game involve nail biting and anxiety? Hand out a survey at a game asking the fans if they think Clemson play calling is too Conservative, needs more diversity, or about right and see how a majority of fans feel. I'd liked to know
