I'm the same about looking forward also David. If we can't change the outcome of what's happened in the past, it's a complete waste of the time, and energy by looking back.

So your logic is that "if you can't change the past, don't even bother looking at it"? That seems wasteful.
80% of this article was blowing smoke anyway. Same stuff he posts every single Spring. Very little to be gleaned from this.
"_____ (some 5* that underperformed last year) looks to be ready to take the next step"
"______ (position group) struggled last year, but has another year of experience and is ready to produce"
"_____ is loaded and will be a tough depth chart to predict" (followed by disappointing season)

If I can't change it, I don't waste a millisecond sweating it bc, anything that can't be erased, and changed to conclude a different outcome, I don't waste any time worrying about it, or wishing that it would've had a different outcome. To me, my personal opinion is that it would be a wasted emotion debating something that's going to be the same regardless of what is said. If you want a different outcome, when the next opportunity presents itself, change what you did the first time that was unfavorable to your liking...
Take for instance, if I was to cut that 25-30 ft tall pine tree that's on the edge of my property, and if it fell on my house, once I finished throwing a tantrum, and cursing myself for not seeing that, that could have been an outcome, I'm over it. I'll fix the damages that I caused, but I won't sweat the tree hitting the house ever again bc it's what happened, and nothing that I can do or say after the fact can change anything that was done, and I'm not going to beat myself up another second over a screw up that I can't go back and change after the facts!!!!!
The last 3 things that you listed in your post is called moving forward!!!!

I think there's a significant difference between looking at the past and wishing it was different, and looking at the past to learn from mistakes for the future--I'm talking about the latter.
My point really was to make fun of these Spring reports. 6-pack of beer says that if we were to look at the Spring report from last March, it would talk about:
1) How our OL is a veteran group and looking to make a statement 2) How Ladson/Ngata are both poised for breakout seasons and will fill in Higgins spot nicely 3) How either Ajou/Williams will likely be instant contributors 4) That our veteran Safeties would be a great safety net
etc etc

Bentley will get on the field for second half of all the games Skalski gets ejected for targeting and or every game Clemson is shutting out teams at halftime. Go Tigers

Maybe the refs will read the rulebook this year and stop ejecting a guy for hitting a player in the mid section when the rules clearly and I mean clearly state that it's to the head and neck area. I've read them over and over and over and it clearly says to the head and neck. NO need to argue that point. Read it again if you want to argue. Skalski hit fields in the stomach area.

Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)
Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:
Launch-a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet
I read it one time and saw the area that he targets

I don't have a dog in the fight, but it appears that the rule ends before Note 1. That would mean that the foul has to be a strike to the head and shoulder area of a defenseless player. That would seem to say that a hit in another area or to a non-defenseless player would not apply. It appears that lower and hitting with the crown of the helmet is an example of targeting but not necessarily applicable to the rule in all cases. An example would be launching. Launching is done all the time in tackling running backs and receivers and is legal if the tackler does not hit the player in the head. I know how the rule is interpreted, but that doesn't seem to be how it is plainly written.

You need to read them again. There's two flavors of targeting. There's the "forcible contact to the head or neck area" flavor, and there's the "leading with the crown of the helmet" flavor. The crown of the helmet flavor does not require the contact to be in the head or neck, but can be anywhere on the body.

UM, you might want to re-read them again...especially the 4th one about crown of helmet targeting (which does not have to be at the head or neck area...just has to be done with the crown of the helmet.
https://www.si.com/college/2018/08/21/college-football-helmet-targeting-rule-explained
"Targeting does not solely occur when players initiate helmet-to-helmet contact. It's defined as occurring when a player "takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball." Instances include, but are not limited to:
Launch--a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area.
A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground.
Leading with helmet, shoulder forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area.
Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of his helmet.
Skalski's hit was crown of the helmet targeting. It's the same type of targeting that ejected Miami's Keontra Smith when he hit Trevor in the mid-section using the crown of the helmet.

YOU CANNOT LEAD WITH THE CROWN OF YOUR HELMET. PERIOD. END OF STORY.
What is so hard for you to understand about that? It not only protects the guy getting hit, but the guy applying the hit. I’m sick of you thinking the refs don’t know the rules. Get it through your thick skull, man.

Only playoff games. They'll let Skalaki hit anyone however he wants during the season then apply an entirely different standard once the games really matter. If you think he would have gotten thrown out of the game for hitting the Citadels QB the exact same way he hit Fields then you're misinformed.

Do you have examples of Skalaki making similar hits on other quarterbacks during the regular season?

All of the refs got together before the 2020 season started, and agreed to completely change the way things were called in the playoffs. More specifically, they singled out Skalski because he’s the toughest player ever and they wanted to make an example out of him.
Poor Clemson, we just never get any breaks since refs, the ACC, and the NCAA are always out to get us.

Yes, agreed. Pretty obvious that Bentley could play Mike as well. Still looking for a linebacker that can get off a block and drop the running back without being dragged down the field. None of the current starters have that ability and another year will not make any difference as they have already played 4-5 years. We will change the personnel or get embarrassed again when we play a top tier team. Giving up 630 yards should be a wake up call but playing upperclassman always seems to be the default.

I have to agree with you. Bentley brings a kind of nastiness and swag we have been missing on D. He needs to be on the field. But, I don’t get paid to make those decisions

4th team or Honorable Mention All-ACC does not cut it for 4th or 5th yr players. Get out of the way for faster, stronger, higher recruited and higher potential sophs and juniors. Playing old and slow vets works in the ACC but not vs. highly ranked programs. We know that.

Not long after Dabo became HC, in his own words, the best players will play and start. And I agree since he made the statement that the best players would play, I have seen, and if all of you are going to be honest with yourself, there has been on occasion a time or two, the best player didn't start over some that had been starting for a couple of years when the younger guy was the better player. Not that often, but it has happen, and if I could remember their names, I would name them but, one of the disadvantages of being close to 70, it's some memory loss with that name or place on the tip of your tongue, but just can't spit it out. But there has been a few occasions since hearing Dabo say that the best guys will play, and it didn't happen!!!!
