improve that big SEC salary he was making to get him here. Not complaining about it, just stating facts. That is just another way that the "excess" SEC millions are hurting the other conferences.
Our football coaching budget is insane compared to what it was 15 years ago. And, while some of that is rewarding results, the MAIN thrust of that increase is to keep salaries competitive to hold the SEC schools at bay, and keep them from poaching OUR coaches.

Illegal hands to the face by the defense keeps opposing offense's drives alive.

That's why it's such a big deal to have a DT coach that really knows the nuances of 'hand to hand' combat.
Dabo knocked it out of the park by getting Eason to come back to Clemson.

Clemson has had one of the best defenses in the country for the past decade, due to its complexity! This came from Venables, who was so successful with it he landed a head coaching job at Oklahoma! And Clemson's defenses were a primary reason we even could stay competative last year, as I offense was below par. These complex defenses got us into the final four repeatedly and many times were the reason we won the day. So, it hardly seems likely that going back to simplicity will improve are great defensive heritage over the past decade. We will see.

Defensive scheming and playing technique are two different conversations. Teaching players fundamentals that allow them to better utilize their superior talent within the framework of the DC's call is what makes a defense great.
Both ideas complimentary. In fact, the more that great technique is part of a player's muscle memory, the more capable the player will be in executing a creative play call.
