A-FREAKING-MEN!! Dude is a straight bruiser. I get the Shipley hype because he is a McCaffrey type back but I wish they'd just throw in a bunch of plays where they BOTH are in at the very least. I've only seen it one time in the 2 seasons.

As much as I like Shipley, I like Mafah a little bit more. He could have left and starred elsewhere; I believe. A player that can let someone else take the glory and just do the work if a great teammate.

I honestly believe it's possible that he'll have a better NFL career than Shipley. Shipley was billed as the second coming of McCaffrey. Maybe we'll see that this year.

Could be like William Andrews.
A backup at Auburn, and a great career with the Falcons in the NFL.
I like Mafah, and Shipley. We should have more plays with both in the game.
Neither one is an outstanding blocker. They both want the ball.

We are blessed with two great backs! I think we'll see Shipley explode in our new offense, with Mafah still getting into the action. Shipley goes pro after that, leaving Mafah with "something to prove" the following year! As long as everybody stays healthy, we'll then have time to develop the young guys.

seriously though, I think if Shipley had closing speed he'd be the for sure number one. He has great agility and heart, but Mafah has a higher ceiling. His build is better suited to be running between the tackles.

Particularly with our lack of WRs, I didn't understand why we didn't run some split backs, i-formation, or wing.
And with a fleet-footed QB now with subtle handoff capability, I'd really love to see it.

I've watched replays of games played the last 2 years and Mafah is by far the best blocking back. Riley will need him to protect Cade. Hopefully that will get him more carries as well as more receptions.

There’s not a bigger indictment of our old scheme than that stat of DJs carries versus Mafah’s. A slow-footed, inaccurate passing monolith had the ball way too much. Amazing we were able to win double digits the last two years.

Why leave ? The 2018 Alabama team had 5 NFL running backs on their roster simultaneously.

was given as many opportunities as Shipley, he would out rush Shipley. Shipley runs with abandon and without fear for his body. Mafah runs with more purpose and power...he just runs like a RB.

I'm really glad he is sticking around! I love his hard nosed running style and really enjoy when he is utilized in the offense. He seems to alway gain yards regardless if he is hit behind the LOS.
