Instant Analysis: Tigers can't overcome injuries at Notre Dame

Clemson gave it its all but in the end the loss of so many key defenders – both before and during the game – was simply too much overcome as the top-ranked Tigers fall to No. 4 Notre Dame Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium. Full Story »

More like Tigers can’t overcome small ball, ultra conservative offensive coordinator Tony Elliot.

Really we’re gonna use injuries as an excuse. Hey guys didn’t live up to the standard and make tackles in the open field. Guys once again didn’t catch balls that hit them in the hands. Linemen/ TEs continued to do a #### poor job of blocking. Excuses are what losers come up with when they lose! Clemson got beat tonight and that’s all that needs to be said. The guys who did play or came in didn’t make enough or the right plays to win that’s it.
I will say the refs definitely had an influence on the game but Clemson still had a chance to win and didn’t. Also i know I’m a broken record but there’s a difference between an injury and being hurt.

I agree. Best team won. But NO calls on holding for ND, all night?? Come on!!

The Offensive holding call has pretty much vanished in college football UNLESS the defender is physically dragged to the ground. It's honestly comical what passes for a "legal block."

Whoever was coaching & didn’t let the clock run down more

at the end of regulation, when we still had the ball, cost us the game. Refs review some play & stop the clock with 2 mins (we could have ticked off 30 secs) & then ETN runs out of bounds on the next play (we could have run off another 25 secs or made them burn time outs). That would have given ND only around 50 secs, with no time outs, to go the length of the field to tie the game. Instead we completely f’d that all up!!

I thought the better team won, and the Notre Dame QB made Clemson's defense look heavy-footed as he did a Russell Wilson impersonation to great effect, over and over. Clemson's bungles in the last two minutes of the 4th Quarter were painful to watch. Clemson showed great heart, but seemed to be what it is, a young team that is very good but not yet great, rather on the road to greatness.

We did not execute when up by 7 with 2:30 to play. That is when we lost the game. We tried to loose several times in the first half but the team showed incredible heart and desire. In the end I believe the poor play calling at the end of the 4th cost us the game.

We could not run all day. Why not try a pass. If DJ is sacked they need to burn a TO. If we catch the ball they need to burn a TO. Only way they don’t use a TO is a drop. I’d roll the dice on the 66% chance of making them burn a TO when I know we can’t run.

We were the better team but chose to give it away
