The Tigers hit just 1-of-13 shots from 3-point range and missed six free throws in the second half in losing the season opener 67-60to Virginia Tech in Littlejohn Coliseum Tuesday night. The early ACC action comes about after the league made the decision to move to 20 conference games (from 18) this season. Clemson plays a second ACC game before the New Year when they travel to FSU on Dec. 8th. Full Story »

I'll tune in to BB after the first of December. It's still football season.

We've a history of trying and failing to win from behind the the arc. One night think with the line being extended this season we might emphasize playing inside the arc a little more

That would involve Brad designing an offense

You’re right, another Brownell excuse press conference. We were so close, we were this or that. Didn’t make the plays we needed. Having xyz out hurts etc etc.

Yep been going on for what a decade now? I’ve never felt we look like a well coached team with him and his use of timeouts drive me nuts, he rarely uses them correctly or to break opponents runs. I noticed with like a minute and a half we had 3 and weren’t using them on key situations and was baffled.

didnt the mot tell us all after last year that we would be lucky to win an acc game. we have a lot of new guys, 2 of our best are still over on the bench. it will take this team time to get it together. the freshman will only get better. but hey, b!tch away.

This start was like dajavous all over again. There's plenty of talent (some lack of experience) this year and the opener was just like last year. Play hard, get a lead, and can't finish.

I still haven't been able to get over the 2 MBB losses to NC State last year after having nice leads.

One thing for sure this weekend...

Nov 6, 2019, 12:01 PM

We will handle Preysbeterian on Thursday, but Sunday Colgate is better than VA Tech. They won their conference last year and very close to beating Tennessee last season in the NCAAT 1st round game with their whole team back. We are on upset alert, again...

I don’t know what’s worse

Nov 6, 2019, 8:12 AM

A). Keep chucking up bricks from beyond the newly extended 3-point arc, or

B) Let 1 player from the other team go off on you for over half of the other teams total points. And he’s a redshirt freshman

Yay, another year of disappointment

I knew we were out of it when ...

Nov 6, 2019, 10:55 AM

... a blocked 3-pointer from Hunter ends up being an easy catch and score for Simms —- but then they call a foul and award us three FTs and Hunter misses all of them!

A Clemson bball specialty, missing free throws. But my favorite (least favorite!!!!) memory is the game about four years ago against Georgia Tech in the ACC tournament where we had them by 18 with something like 8 minutes to go. Instead of running the clock, we foul them on almost every possession and they hit freebie after freebie and catch us at the end of regulation and then win it in overtime. I've seen chokes before, but that was one of the stupidest chokes I've ever seen. If it had been the reverse situation, Clemson would not have gotten within 8 points, given their lack of free throw success.
