Sunday Update: Swinney talks Freezer Package, firing of Chad Morris

Senior left guard John Simpson scored his first career touchdown Saturday night at NC State, lining up in the backfield and plunging into the endzone from a yard out for a first-half score. Simpson followed defensive tackles Nyles Pinckney and Tyler Davis and defensive end Logan Rudolph in for the score, and head coach Dabo Swinney told the media Sunday evening that the package as a name. I know to whom much is given, much is required, but I also believe realistic expectations and good judgement need to be there, as well. Chad took over a double barreled mess at Arkansas, and it will not be fixed in a year and a half or two. Heck, even Danny Ford couldn't fix that mess, and that says something, so I'm not sure this was a very fair set of expectations and time-line for Chad. That said, he was paid a bunch, and he is going to be fine (excusing his ego), but now AK gets to start all over, yet again. Any wagers on how successful the next coach there will be? Me either. Hold your head high, Chad. Things will all be all right for you and your family. I'll bet AK has several more new coaches in their future.

AK is Alaska. AR is Arkansas.

That's what adult beverage will do to a computer. When I typed it in, I thought it didn't look right, but there probably are a bunch of people in Arkansas who can't spell it either.

all of what you said is true

But Morris has dipped below reasonable rebuilding levels. How can any hope for the future come from 45-19 losses to Western Kentucky and losses to SJSU?

There was nothing to hold on to

Western Kentucky could have beaten 6-7 SEC teams. With the injuries on the OL it gives your QB no time. The lines are the hardest when talent is low and depth is non existent. He started with very little and then injuries snowballed this year.

Very true, but the sad news is with the money these guys get paid, expectations are very high, and they are expected almost immediately. To whom much is given, much is required is a quote from the Bible. I think the FB Coaching profession has adopted that philosophy, too. (usuc, excluded, of course)

The Freezer Package, "it's a nice little package we've been working on." Of the irony if that, love it! Feel for Chad, he wasn't given enough time, wish he and his staff the best on landing on his feet!!! Go Tigers!!!
