To answer your question... We as fans seem to sense something is terribly wrong BEFORE the coaches are willing to ADMIT it. Looking at the impotence of the offense, the body language of DJ, the lack of variety in play calling is so obvious that we would like to trust the coaches to see WHAT we see. Fans want to TRUST the coaches to NOT just flip off what we see as problems with clichés. At this point... TRUSTING in them to put a quality team on the field seems lacking in myself and others.

He's working his tail off the help the root cause of our stagnation, and he's going to keep working his tail off. What's he supposed to do when we call plays and miss receivers? What's he supposed to do when we aren't creating any running room? Again, there aren't any magic playcalls to use when there are players unable to execute. He has shown for six straight top 4 finishes what he's capable of doing when the players execute. Its ridiculous to act like Tony suddenly forgot how to call plays.
I, for one, am sticking with this team. I fully expect us to come out, look much better next week and go win the darn game.

I think all of us are sticking with the team and pulling for them. However TE is responsible for not just play calling but preparing those players and scheming which he is not doing well. If he can’t see that his boss needs to help him see it.

This is what we need more of. As fans, we're all frustrated. Making comments about Coach Elliott as a person doesn't solve anything. On his preparation and play-calling, that's another issue completely. Some of us noticed the predictability after LSU beat Clemson in the Natty. What's Coach Elliott gonna do he hasn't already done? I believe he's in over his head. It's like he's scouring his playbook and nothing's working. I think it's time for Dabo to make the tough decision CEOs are paid to make.

It's hard to imagine any decent OC doing so badly with Clemson's 4-star roster. Heck, Rob Spence had Cullen Harper doing better with a 2-3-star supporting cast.. and Spence sucked. Imagine if Spence had this 4-star roster and had Venables' defense to bail him out instead of the Vic Koenning bend-but-don't-break-but-then-go-ahead-and-break defense. Prolly woulda at least won the Atlantic a few times.

Rob Spence?-Mr Bubble screen play-also known as "get your receivers killed by a helmet going full speed" play? Now that I REALLY couldn't beleive you said. That was painful to read. I still have nightmares about him. I say that because his body of work played out before me and it was bad-very bad, very very bad, horrific, moronic and countless other adjectives. I'd say Tony's body of work which has also played out before me has been pretty freaking good.
So if that is your conviction, I stand by my assessment. If it was sarcasm, it was brilliant!

All, let’s get down to real football issues and not making personal attacks. But first, to the guy who mentioned Spence and his love of bubble screens that didn’t work, Tony ran plenty of bubble screens yesterday, and I only remember one of them working (about a 6 or 7 yard gain for JR, I think). I will start with 2 real questions. It is my understanding that we put JR in the slot this year (which I thought was a stupid idea because he should be the guy on the outside going downfield outdueling smaller backs for jump balls) and that in our offense, the slot receiver is the go-to guy who goes across the middle and saves us on 3rd down (aka 3rd and Renfrow or 3rd and Amari). Well, we only called that play ONE time last night that I can recall and guess what happened? A JR touchdown. Someone please explain that? Second, why is Ajou completely nonexistent in the schemes? I haven’t seen him on the field hardly at all and I can remember only 3 targets in 4 games and he caught 2 that I remember, both against SCST for a total of 16 yards. He was all-everything in the spring game against a decent defense, right? On a positive note, I thought our pass blocking was better yesterday (except for the rookie miss by Shipley, which DJ bailed him out of). Also, unless I misread the stat, we averaged 4.5 yards per carry. If that stat is right, then I have to still question play calling. Back in my day, Danny would have taken that all day long on his way to 3-play 1st downs with a cloud of dust and beat anybody in the country with his defense. And his defense wouldn’t have been on the field for twice as long as his offense. Just sayin’.

When the QB completes 12 passes all day in a double overtime game, it's gonna seem like certain players are lost especially when 8 of those completions were to Ross. But Ngata had 2 completions yesterday and is the second leading receiver. Its just the lack a completions that makes it seem like lack of play.
We didn't have a single TE pass that I recall. Beaux Collins dropped a perfect pass yesterday. The lack of quick slants or dump passes to a slot or TE is ridiculous since the offensive line is getting a lot of blame but they actually looked pretty good yesterday giving DJ time in the pocket.

No, this is a 60+ year supporter of the Tigers going back to the days when being in the top 10 wasn't even considered a possibility. You're probably too young to remember the 50 to 60 point losses from the 1950's and 60's. I grew up in Clemson, went to Daniel High School, and spent many an afternoon sitting in the bleachers at the 10 yard line pulling for this team. T-Net, Rubbing the Rock, the internet, etc didn't even exist!

We're hardly at the top. I feel the frustrating thing is some have know for MONTHS how predictable it is to beat Clemson. The recipe is out and nothing is changing. If Best is the standard, TS's 'BEST" isn't effective. They should have let him go to South Florida.
