Was at that game....one of the best I ever witnessed. Total turn around in a very short period of time. But Bowden was such a snake oil salesman. Shoulda been fired in 2002 after the TTU bowl game debacle.

Came in as a TE our of HS and not highly regarded as far as ranking. Turned into a stud. RIP

It was cold and rainy so the Mrs. stayed home. Our son wore flip flops and was sorry that he did. There wasn't much to cheer about until that incredible play. I was a Gaines Adams fan for life after that. RIP, Big Guy.

Yep, Remember that play for sure. Was hoping for a missed FG then BOOM and Adams was going the other way for TD.

hard to imagine, but it was just 3 seasons ago our whole defensive line was basically 6'5"

now we're a staggering 6'3" max

I was at that game with my 9 year old twin boys.

It was one of the first (may have been the first) road games I had taken them to see.

One of my boys was excited that one of the drummers in Tiger Band caught my son watching him warm up by their buses before the game and gave him a set of drumsticks.

We then proceeded to the game and we were all upset at how bad the Tigers were playing until #93 made that play. I remember, clear as day, looking at them jumping up and down on their seats as Gaines was rumbling down the field for the TD.

After the game, we went and waited outside the visitors' locker room to see if they could catch a glimpse of some of the Tigers. Low and behold, they ended up standing right beside Gaines as he was waiting to put his bag under the bus. They asked him to autograph their Gameday Program which he did with the biggest smile on his face. He was such a classy and humble young man. A fine example of a Clemson Gentleman.

My twins turned 28 earlier this week and are still Gaines Adams fans. To this day, any time an opposing team lines up to take an important FG attempt, one of them will inevitably say something along the lines of, "Come on Tigers, channel your inner Gaines Adams!" Those drumsticks and that program are still prominently displayed in my Mancave where we always meet to watch any of the games we are not attending.

RIP Big Man!

I was there with my 16 year old daughter We were second row about dead even with the LOS on that play.

Yes, it lightly rained all day….right up until that turn of events. I remember thinking if Sam Swank hit that field goal it was going to be all but over for us, we hadn’t done Jack offensively all day.

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned that he played 8-man football for none other than Steve Tannyhill.…who tried to get Lou Hoax to take him.

Dumb #### Lou ! 😆
