This is the difference between Allen and Wes. I th I think Wes could be a great DC.......IF......he had a Tom Allen coaching it. I think Wes is a great defensive mind I just don't think he's a great defensive coach.

I’ve seen it with multiple coaches. I’ve played for a guy that had good intensity, but was a terrible game planner. I’ve also coached with a guy that was an absolutely brilliant X’s and O’s coach, but never captured the locker room.
You must have great knowledge of the game, and be a natural leader of men to be a successful football coach.

Cool, calm and collected may work with regards to coaching on the offensive side of the ball but you need someone who brings an emotional element to the defense IMO
|

If we can remember how to tackle and stop the run, we won't need to rely on turnovers. Wes' defense could not do either last year.
