Here's my list of God's attributes which I most dearly love and treasure.

He is loving, He is patient, He is faithful, He is merciful and He is gracious. These are most dear to me because they are the reason I have survived His justness, holiness and His extreme hate of sin.

God tolerates my flesh for a season then it's back to the dust where it belongs. How then can I dread shedding this shell which encumbers me, the prison which holds me in a state of sinfulness?

Jesus, my Christ came down and took on a shell of sinful man and lived without sin that He might be found holy before God. By God's grace He became a substitute for me to take on my sin and suffer the true fate which I've earned. One which if I had suffered I would have acknowledged as justice.

Oh Glory to God for His love, patience, faithfulness, mercy and grace. Praise His Holy name!

Psalm 100:

"1 (A Psalm of praise.) Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."

Psa 119:

"17 GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.

18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.

23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors."

He believes that evil is allowed by god because he gets to show off his power when he defeats it.

The average Christian would say this is absurd, but it is consistent with Paul’s teachings in Romans:

“What if God, intending to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the vessels of His wrath, prepared for destruction?”

Yeah, that's what it sounds like.

God's power is in that He has a mechanism, the blood of His only begotten son, to save the lost. It's not His power to destroy that which He abhors but that He can save those who trust in Him.

It's as simple and simply explained in Matthew 13"

"24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

This isn't complicated, even a child can comprehend preservation of that which is undesirable to preserve that which is desired.

You are still claiming that an all-powerful God is not all-powerful.

Once and for all, is God all-powerful or not?

In the example you just gave, you place limits on God's power: It's not His power to destroy that which He abhors but that He can save those who trust in Him. AND This isn't complicated, even a child can comprehend preservation of that which is undesirable to preserve that which is desired.

Supposedly, God has already taken out the wheat with the tares before with the great flood (which raises it's own questions), so if God is somehow limited in that way, unable to separate the good from the evil, why would he be concerned about taking out the wheat with the tares this time when he wasn't before?

The flood was a picture of the final judgement where those who trust in Jesus will be saved and those who don't will be dammed.

Noah and his family were the wheat, those who drown are the tares. Jesus is the ark.

You need to get on board rather than mocking those of us who warn you of the impending rain.

Think about it:

God loves us, more than we can comprehend. Also, his power is without limit. Yet he included things he hates and opposes in his creation, things that he must battle against, and most of us who he loves, will spend eternity in hell.

There's something wrong with that story. It's YOUR story. You have offered numerous responses, but not one direct, reasonable answer.

I know you are a great guy and a smart guy. That's not what this is about at all.

It begs the question: When nothing is necessary for God, meaning he is all-powerful and for him everything is a choice, why did he unnecessarily allow things which made him want to kill everybody?

Yes, we, as humans, must allow the tares in order for the wheat to grow. God doesn't have to allow anything. He doesn't have to destroy anything. Including things in his creation that need to be destroyed and require people to be killed is 100% his choice. So, did God want to kill all of those people from the beginning, or did he not see it coming, and just did what he had to do as a result. In other words, does God simply react when things don't go as he'd hoped, or is the sin and evil all part of his plan from the get-go?

It's not me that needs convincing; I agree 100%. God WANTS sin and evil and suffering to exist. He's not engaged in a battle against those things, and he could make all of them disappear in the blink of an eye. God doesn't have to fix or correct anything, and he doesn't react with anger or disappointment because like you say, everything is part of his design.

God is not responsible for evil. He is not the author of evil. Though it exists in His plan, He is not the direct cause. It is known as a "paradox" in theology.

The average Christian wouldn't say it's absurd. There are many Calvinistic denominations. Calvinism will take over the SBC in the next 10 years. 1 'of the 3 SBC Seminaries is already Calvinist and another will soon become Calvinist, it's very close to being there now.

I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of people that identify as Christian, when explained what Calvinism is, that god chooses who goes to heaven and blinds everyone else so they will go to hell and he does this to show his power, would say that they do not believe that….

And that’s a good thing.

I think Jesus came and showed that we humans have a choice in the matter. God's Grace is available to all.

"For the Grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men"....

As for the SBC, I think they're in trouble long-term. They're losing members. Most large denominations are now shrinking, as people move toward more non-denominational independent churches. I was unaware that SBC seminaries were moving toward Calvinism, but I somewhat doubt that "saves" them long-term, so to speak...
