Where's all the power we heard about and the "run-scoring offense?" And the pitching at times has been ugly. This team has been sleep-walking all weekend.

Thinking next weekend is what will be really ugly. Huge disappointment in this team early on. Good news is it’s a long season. Bad news is I’m not sure that will matter.

I semi disagree. Pitching has been pretty solid both games vs VCU and this game against A&T. Too much Tinkering with the lineup. Sat Cam and Luke last night. Luke and Paino today. If Paino was playing 3rd this inning would be over. That error by Dillard kept this half inning alive. The bats do need to come to life but it’s still early. Some guys slumping but will definitely get it going.

Maybe because of the two throwing errors ..... one of which cost us two runs.

My bad .... misread your post.
The answer is that at the first of the season he mentioned that we would see a lot of different players at positions. He wants to see how some of the newer or younger players were going to perform.

Very concerning , next weekend we can be swept if this is what we have for pitching and hitting . This team isnt a good hitting club , just feasted on our own sorry pitching all offseason . Today is a nice day and still no power in this lineup . May set a season record for fewest home runs ever!

This thread is something else.
I am glad that I’m not the only one disappointed in this team. I mean I fully expected our starting pitchers the throw 81 pitch shutouts too but here we are! Then to add insult to injury, we don’t hit a HR every swing. What did they do all offseason???? I demand answers from Bakich or he can pack his stuff and get out !
If it was raining $100 bills I’m convinced most people would complain because they had to bend over to pick them up.
There’s a lot of really good players on this team. Coach is giving them a chance to earn a spot in the starting rotation. I’ve said this for a week now. We’re scoring runs in every way imaginable. That’s a good thing.

It hasn't been that bad. Pitching needs work but, I'm glad Leguernic pitched well today. Maybe his ears were burning after all my doubting. The lineups have been experimental too. The team is fine but, if you were wondering if we could get swept by USC Jr., News Flash. Just about every series we play is that way, if we don't show up. Yhe team is good and will improve. BTW the Virginia team picked 4th this year has lost twice and looked pedestrian at times. LSU lost to Omaha, etc. It's baseball.

Pocono--early in the year-only one loss---and I can tell you that smaller schools get really jacked up to play the"big guys". Our little Newberry team played the Coots to 2 one run games my senior year--too early to know.

Knee jerk reaction. The season is very young. Exit velocity is very high. Just keep swinging well and the home runs will come. Wins aren’t ugly. Regardless of the score. This weekend has been beautiful sans the ladies basketball team losing and the women’s gymnastics team trailing the California trees. Almost a perfect weekend sweep. NOT ugly. I honestly expected your first sentence to be for anyone playing Clemson sports this weekend.
another thing to remember is that Coach EB is giving a lot of young players the chance to earn a role. When he rolls out the final lineup it’s going to be great. Have some faith.

As I have pointed out before, I don't get the freaking out about baseball recently. Like last two years I have noticed an increase in people just overreacting after every inning.
Probably something to do with betting tbh

College baseball is probably the least bet on sport there is. I doubt anybody on here complaining has been betting on Clemson to win. Just a bad take TIP. I agree the freaking out is ridiculous tho. We won all 3 games lol. How can people complain?

I'm sure some are betting on baseball but idk that it's the reason for complaining. We have high expectations this year and people don't realize how many good baseball players there are even at these smaller schools. People see Clemson vs NC A&T and expect it to be 20-0. These people don't know much about baseball.

NCa&t has some players. They’re trying to move the program forward. Hall is doing a good job with them. May hear some rumblings from a&t in the future. Anyhow, Go Tigers!

They can get players that move up from lower levels while also getting good players from bigger schools that get overshadowed. And they probably don't have to pay out the wazoo for them. You can have a bunch of 5* players but there's still just one ball. It will be interesting to see how some of these schools like A&T progress.

It's early in year...Coach is tinkering w/ lineups & still trying to find out who we can rely on pitching-wise since got hit w/ some preseason injuries.
Not every game is gonna be run-rule stoppages w/ 5 grand slams. Regardless of opponents, you gotta scratch out some games and rely on the pitching & defense. Leguernic responded nicely from a tough weekend, had some solid performances on the bump too from other guys. The bats will come around.

It is early. No telling how this team will be. I've seen people here anoint this team after a couple of big early wins and bury them after a few bad losses.
In MLB terms they play 162. The old saying is that you will win 60 and lose 60. Its what you do with the other 42 that makes or breaks you

Someone said this season has been a disappointment thus far... how is 6-1 a disappointment?
College baseball is not the MLB. 90+% of these kids won't even sniff the big leagues and a huge chunk of the kids playing college baseball in general won't even be drafted. They'll be working office jobs in a couple years.
No matter how you slice it college baseball is a second tier product and we love it regardless. You can't just skim off the top 100 or so players in America (MLB Draft stealing signees) and expect to have elite talent that produces immediately. There's going to be mistakes, there's going to be bad outings. A HUGE portion of the guys who throw 96 mph and higher are drafted out of high school, so we can't really complain about not having a staff full of "power arms" because there's isn't just a pond of "power arms" that Bakich can go dip into whenever he wants. And most college teams (outside of Knoxville, Tennessee) aren't going to have 5-6 guys with 20+ homers. It is what it is. #1 Texas A&M just lost to a 1-5 Cal Poly team last night and squeaked by 4-3 the night before. It's baseball, let's all pump the brakes a little.

We forget the great season we had this past season in baseball. In the beginning of the season, you’re trying to sort things out and learn where everything goes. Get your pieces put together quit being an armchair coach and just trust our guys to do what they’re supposed to do as they always do. Can we just enjoy the ride? Quit being so #### cynical.
