This is why I HATE pool play. We are now one and done in

the tourney, but the one is NOT THE FIRST GAME WE PLAY! It matters not a speck on a flea's scrotum what the result is in tomorrow's game with VT, as far as advancement. Only by beating BC will we advance, and we will do that even if we lost to VT 100-0, as long as everybody in our pod winds up 1-1.
And, as has been the case for US in the past, VT now knows, because of the rankings, in advance of our game, they have ZERO chance of advancing. Why even play these games? Teams that pretty well know they are already in the NCAA Regionals are just at risk of injury to a player in a contest that means absolutely nothing, TO EITHER SIDE.
Coach Bakich can rah-rah about trying to win every game, but teams are made up of human beings, and from either side, this game with VT tomorrow stands to be one of the flattest, no interest games that you could imagine.
And that's all I have to say about pool play. Other than that, carry on.

The tournament is what it is so no need worrying about the format. If we want to be a National Seed, we most certainly do care about winning tomorrow and every game we get to play.

It’s kind of a seeded pool play. The regular season matters. Huge advantage to finish high. Although I agree with you on the games that “don’t matter” in the tourney. The important game really matters.

That’s not what he said. He said they intend to try to win the tourney. Do you think he doesn’t understand the variables as you just laid them out? Do you think he won’t adjust his strategy accordingly. And yes, pool play sucks. But I don’t know why you’re acting like Bakich said or did something wrong in relation to it.

My understanding is that if we win 1 game, either 1, we advance due to our seeding. I believe we win the tie breaker over both other teams. This year, due to our seeding, I think pool play is a good thing.
Correct me if I’m wrong, which I’m sure you will!

That's not correct. If BC beats us, they are 2-0 and they win the pool.

You are incorrect. If we beat VT and lose to BC we are out because BC would be 2-0 in pool play. Therefore BC would advance. We must beat BC to be in. All teams would be 1-1 in our pool and the tie breaker is highest seed advances.
