It doesn't hurt that our defense has 3 potential 1st Round picks either.

Wow, BB. If the guy in charge of frying Chic fil a chicken sucks at it, even that product would suffer. With Tom Allen moving his pieces around the board properly, people will notice Clemson has 1st rounders on defense- unlike last year.

You'd be hard pressed to believe that watching the Texas game, however.

Hey Valley Boy, those potential 3 first rounders were on the team last year. Our defense lacked intensity and leadership from the DC.

I agree, it isn't just about knowledge and scheme.

By all indications, Goodwin is a brilliant defensive coach. But being a successful coordinator also means being a leader who can inspire, and I never felt that he was comfortable in that role.

See you can make a good football post. I bet you didn't know you had it in you. I agree and will take it a step further. Goodwin was not a good leader and other position coaches felt the same. If a change hadn't been made several assistants on D would've left and some of our star players on defense would've hit the portal.

I attempted to TU you. Not sure what I actually did. My intentions were good. 🫤

Kevin Steele and Reggie Herring were intense but not great DCs IMO. I believe our defense was missing several things starting with leadership but also a 2nd DE who could set the edge. Also missing an offense who could convert a 3rd down so they were not constantly on the field.

FWIW, the answer is hardly one thing.

Good point. It isn't just about yelling and screaming on the sidelines.

It's about knowing when to yell and scream, but also when to remain calm. That's going to be different for each situation and each player.

Coaches who know how to adjust their style based on the specific scenario are the masters at their craft. I feel like Tom Allen is a master at his craft, and will prove to be an outstanding hire by Dabo.

Worth the time to watch on you.tube especially the tour by young Venables thru the entire building and then the tough practices including the Spring game that showed such intensity by both the coaches & players.

Dang, with that newly instilled fight mentality I can't see this team not exceeding at the highest level.

Go TiGERS..Rock!
