Lack of discipline in the home. My wife teaches first grade and these kids already know way more than they should on things that they shouldn’t.

It starts in the home, you're right. Too many parents want to be "friends" and distract their kids with videos, phones, etc, because they're too lazy to parent.

True statement. Have three grandchildren and they will spend 100% of their time on a phone or video game. Hard to get them outside to enjoy Mother Nature.

Exactly! I had a pastor tell me one day that his task was to teach his kids right from wrong and how to function in society and to show respect. His job was not to be their best friend that they had enough friends. Hit home and made a lot of sense seeing how kids are brought up these days.

but also not. My nephew has had some behavioral issues - along with some of his friends - and that has been their crutch and explanation lately on it. And while it isn’t a political issue, the cues are taken largely from the political fight…no one needs to show respect to others, so why do I seems to be their mentality. It’s feeds in their social media just like adults, but they’re aren’t experienced enough to process it.

It is totally a Liberal problem. Schools that are more liberal perform way below the more conservative schools. Just look at most of the schools in the big cities which are 90% Democrat. You don't see Republican parents moving to Democrat areas for better schools. You will see Democrats leaving their schools for more conservative schools. The Socialist Democrats are destroying our country.

This is where you are dead wrong. Most kids that act out come from single parent homes without a father figure. The government has helped these women remain single and not need a man to take care of them and their kids financially. You can also attribute this to transgender and gay dysphoria that has broken out in this country. Now I will agree that the single parents do need to parent better as well as some traditional families with 2 parents. You saying this has nothing to do with politics just isn't true. It has a lot to do with our government. Have a great day.

What’s worse is that the student was just recording, and giggling. The other students were just sitting there probably recording as well. God forbid one step up and say, “It’s over, Chad. Let’s step out, brother. Take a breath. This is school. We can’t do this here.”

overall "child raising" concepts that have been popularized in the last couple generations.
We, as a society, have gone way overboard in our efforts to protect a child's self esteem. So much so that we are producing mentally immature young adults that struggle to deal with their emotions when faced with situations that aren't to their liking. When these helicoptered kids encounter something that violates "their truth" they tend to lash out because they never learned at a young age how to deal with something counter to their falsely created world. While not always a violent reaction, we see a lot of these folks in everyday society acting with a general lack of common courtesy and in some cases civility.

they get a serious wake-up call. That crap would last about 5 seconds if I was within striking distance. If the parents can’t bother to discipline him, then I will and he won’t like the way I do it either. But a lesson he will unfortunately have to learn the hard way. There are quite a few of us still out here who will oblige.

Your life would be over after that. Loss of a job, jail time, then probably never being able to teach at a school again. Teachers have it rough. Being underpaid and having to deal with other people's kids all day and having to maintain their cool when one of them goes ballistic (and it'll happen to every teacher at least once in a high school setting).

There was bad ### kids in school when I first attended in the mid forty’s! Back in those days all teacher had a paddle and knew when and how to use it. Most kids knew if they got one in school they would get another when they got home. School is much more violent now. I’m not sure politics have a lot to do with it. Youngsters see violence so often today in several ways that it accepted. Sad..

We have outlawed spanking children in their own home. Spanking is called child abuse and there is a general lack of discipline with children growing up now. There is a difference between spanking and child abuse. When I was growing up, schools biggest problems were chewing gum, talking in class and general misbehavior. Now we have resource officers in Elementary schools not only to protect the students but to protect the teachers from the students. You tell me what is wrong!

Agree 100 percent. I went to a two room school through grade seven, 1-3 in room one and 4-7 0n room two. One day in room two the teacher in room two kept a big boy in at recess to "administer" a little brawl until the teacher was getting the upper hand and suddenly the door flew open and and the student came flying out with the teacher in close pursuit . they ran across the road into a pasture where the teacher caught him and completed the task. The rest of the students were out in the yard watching. We were duly impressed.

This is extreme obviously but things have gotten out of control. I have taught in public schools.
Also, I like how you assume I posted anything accidentally. It shows your extreme bias.

Not sure what bias you’re referring to. If anything I’m biased in your favor because I was clearly wrong.

kids like that got disappeared before middle school, you know, ended up at the bad school where they were abused further, then eventually released into the penal system. Now I guess teachers just have to deal with them.

I don't know who is supposed to be raising this kid honestly....but they have failed.
Maybe he has a mental issue that has not been dealt with at all .... especially when it comes down to respecting authority type people...teachers...etc...
If he does not have a mental issue.......he missed a lot of a∆∆ whoopings .....or he is going to be headed into several if he keeps that up.
Put him in an Oklahoma drill and see how he holds up.
