A quick primer on 'there, their, they’re' for those interested, and for no particular reason.
They’re = They are. “What are they doing? They’re (they are) playing ball.” Action.
Their = Possession, belonging to. “We lost the ball. It is their ball now.” The ball belongs to the other team, not us.
There = Pretty much every other use. Technically an adverb, with a location and ‘where’ quality to it. “There it is!” = Something is being pointed out as being somewhere. “There is no crying in baseball” = No crying where? Baseball. “There are a lot of questions about DJ this season” = Questions about DJ exist, the where being among those doing the questioning and wherever those thoughts are shared.

Affect is a verb. "This legislation will affect the economy in unknown ways." "It was the users that were most affected." "This affects everyone."
Effect is a noun. "The effect of that legislation on the economy was unexpected." "Those were great special effects."
Mrs. wbl just offered this up on Affect / Effect: "A" is for Action, "E" is for End result.
