Goodbye to the EA NCAA franchise.

Sep 27, 2013, 9:07 AM

The players tried to get in on the act and the litigation got too messy. EA threatened to cut the proverbal baby in half and the players said "go ahead".

Now we all are worse off for it....

Consumers don't get the product, players don't get money nor the ability to see themselves in a game, and EA has lost a revenue stream.

If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

Yep. Sad. Stinks.

Been playing this game for years. Only game I buy. I'm a college fan, not a pro fan so I won't go and buy Madden.

I guess I will get to play all 60 years of Dynasty mode now with the current edition.

wont be taking advantage of!!!

Now they can focus on there education, oh I see, they could care less about that!

Lets see if the ones suing the NCAA can get money instead of an education.

Durn, does this mean they'll stop funding real software development for the game?

Wait. They did that 8 years ago. It's cliche, but it's true. It's amazing how similar NCAA 2014 and NCAA 2005 are relative to the advances in other sports games.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

fyi. don't think this

Sep 27, 2013, 10:33 AM

Means no more college football games. I think remember some video game junkie tell me EA will now just have tip make deals with each school or conference. Plus you will still have some underground guy

There WAS speculation they might still make one but...

Sep 27, 2013, 10:48 AM

That's over. EA came out and actually said they won't be making another college football game. Not just another NCAA game but a college football game in general.

What I read earlier was that as part of the settlement, they would not be publishing one in 2014 (ie. College Football 15).

Someone speaking for EA said they were "evaluating our plan for the future of the franchise."

This doesn't necessarily mean it's dead after next year, but the likelihood of it returning is slim.

When everyone demands to 'get theirs,'

Sep 27, 2013, 11:02 AM

no one gets anything. In the end, the customer is the one supporting the product. If costs for the supplier, including the cost of risk, are too high to provide a product at a price the customer will support, the product goes away. The players, and those talking into their ear, don't understand that the vast majority of people buy these games for their enjoyment of the game, their loyalty to a school, and not the individual players. These schools existed for decades/centuries before the current players and will continue to exist for decades/centuries afterward. Nevertheless, I imagine EA Sports will bring the product back if the litigation risk subsides in the future. Still, the customer gets screwed in the mean time, though the latest version we have in our home is 2007 :) .

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fine then

Sep 27, 2013, 12:24 PM

Make the players generic and in no way associated with the actual players. If it's just about the school and the game, who cares who the players are on the roster.

Pretty sure they're just changing the name***
