share in the bounty (I'm fine with that), and there needs to be true college athletics where actual students who are there for the education first and foremost play sports for their school, and not for money. Those should be two distinct entities, existing for different purposes.

As it is, college sports, at least football and basketball, has sold it's soul. It's lost something very important, and sadly, that's not a good thing. College sports, with student athletes who we can relate to in some way because they share our love for our school and are having a similar college experience ... is dead. We're now pulling for and supporting strangers we have nothing in common with, merely because they dress in our locker room and wear our jersey.

I know it will never happen though, because the NCAA will not give up the huge money involved, and the NFL doesn't want to give up a free minor league.

Oh, there will be after the dust settles. There will be whatever the “big 2” become (NFL lite?) and then all the other schools who can’t afford to or want to play that game. Those schools will tell the kids - here is your pot of money. You can use it for tuition and board or you can pay your own way and use it for whatever you want.

So many of the players have no connection whatsoever to the Universities. In

fact at some point, and we may already be there, it'll be downright dishonest to the point of shameless for the sport to be presented as "College Football".

We now have the United Football league...I have not watched a game. They are free to recruit from wherever they want and develop players, but the NFL has been completely disinterested in having a connection with them to develop players. There simply is no energy for a farm league to be successful. When you look at the NFL and the lackluster product it wants to market interest would be far lower for a farm league.

Right now it seems the only story the NFL can get going for it is Taylor Swift.

I am with you. Those days are gone. You cannot unring a bell. As much as it sucks, college sports as we knew them do not or never will exist. If you want pure collegiate competition, you’re going to have to go watch HBCU football. It’s going to turn into the same thing. It’s already starting there too. I know because I’m doing a masters degree at one.

I'm waiting for a Power 4 school to say we're not doing it unless there are guidelines for salary (cap, max pay for position and etc) and there are contracts that lock the players in for 3 years if drafted or 4 years otherwise. I would say NIL would have to be separate like sponsors in professional sports.
