The winds of cfb aren't blowing favorably for Dabo

Sep 26, 2021, 5:12 PM

The portal cripples his ability to sit, discipline and develop players. His unwillingness to recruit the portal hampers his ability to shore up weak positions. NIL just has to aggravate him to no end since it furthers an entitlement mindset which Dabo just loathes. And his over the top loyalty to former players and friends in terms of placing them in key coaching and staff posns just robs the pgm of innovation and critical thinking.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if he moves to a TV posn or an NFL staff posn. The culture of CFB is just changing right before his and our eyes.

There’s a lot to unpack there , but I think you’re right about most of it. He’s got to adapt and adapt quickly or it’s probably going to get worse.

I would not be surprised if he does not have the will to adapt. I have always thought he may decide the professionalism ( players earning 7 figures, free agency through the portal) that has taken over college football is not for him. He may or may not. I am cool with it if he does, I just want to see him go out on top.

I have always answered the thought that Dabo would replace Saban with my belief that Dabo will retire from college coaching before Saban does.

Making $8M-$10M per year to coach a college sport is the epitome of entitlement.

Honestly, this is the most critical bunch of BS comments I have ever read on Dabo. You guys don't know #### about what this guy intends to do. Every poster on this message chain who is saying Dabo is just gonna throw in the towel and move to a MEDIA POSITION here has no freakin idea what it takes to accomplish what he did. Step down from your "know best" attitude and grant the guy some ####### respect, jesus. ####### sad. Please don't go around representing our university with that defeatist BS attitude.

You said it all right there. And last years Covid debacle that crept in this year a little as well didn't help.

DJ is an excellent example of why not to have NlL. 1. His parents are divorcing, causing him to have concentration problems on the field. 2. He dresses like a Cam Newton wannabe. Embarrassing. 3. It's causing other offensive players to not play their best. Maybe out of jealousy or envy. Or maybe the resentment is subconscious. 4. He hasn't earned it. He reminds me of the pre Madonnas of decades past.
I know we have other problems on offense. But it all starts with the QB. The ball is in his hands every play.
