In case you still believe players buy into loyalty and culture, the quote below is the new normal in player attitudes. While this is the Miami basketball coach talking, I do believe this is the sentiment among many football players as well.
Jim Larranaga on when was a turning point for him towards retirement:
"After we went to the 2023 Final Four, eight players wanted to transfer or seek better NIL deals. They told me they loved it at Miami, but wanted to seek a better deal."

Actually, in my career I turned down a much bigger role and raise to go with a competitor. Staying put turned out to be the right move for me. Sometimes the grass on the other side isn’t greener.
However, all of these are personal decisions and one size does not fit all.

Last I checked, it’s called college football, and Clemson University is still playing. It’s college football, whether you want to accept it or not.

Ahh we will have club football soon enough and the teams currently playing will start moving to the highest bidder. Think Championship of the English FA.

I previously worked at a large insurance company that dealt with Medicare. I worked in the financial department for ten years. We were treated like rented mules. I took a chance , and went to work for a school district in the IT department, been there seven years, love it. I get the players want something out it, but the jumping school to school is getting ridiculous. I noticed some are at their fourth or fifth stop.Crazy

I completely understand the players. They can make more in 2 years than they make the rest of their lives if they don't have solid NBA careers or European careers. Their window of opportunity is small. It does suck though the way it has to be.

I agree. My larger point was this is the new normal and we have to plan for it and adapt to it if we want to stay relevant and in the upper tier.

It is strange how all these players feel by getting paid while playing sports, but nobody understands what made college sports as favorable as it's been since the beginning, it had always been an amateur sport, and amateurs aren't supposed to make millions of dollars and when they are, it's no longer an amateur sport, period!!!
I swear that I hope that the entire college sports system will blow the H$LL up and colleges will run sports out of their institutions of higher learning, I pray that it happens sooner than later. Put all that cost on the individual states that want simi pro sports in their cities where it should be with as big as the money has gotten in what was once known as amateur sports where young men and women athletes was afforded a way to get their education paid for through a sports scholarship!!!

Well now they get their education paid for and they make more than the average person makes in a lifetime if they are lucky.

And I would ask you what is the point of someone going to college in the first place. Last I checked it was to seek higher learning to get them a better job to provide for their family. Interesting these kids are doing just that.

Clemson doesn't recruit kids like Miami. The sky isn't falling so step back off the ledge.'
BTW, all the knives and forks in the world will fall elsewhere.
I could mention your panties being wadded but the ones I'm wearing now need a little tug.

Oh really? We just had 7 kids we loved that we offered and they accepted and then left us at the altar for greener pastures.
Sounds like a similar mindset to me…

Yep. Piles of Benjamins now trump the family atmosphere/team relationships/campus beauty/academic programs of any university. NFL lite has arrived.

Yes it has, now the universities should Bulldoze the stadiums, arenas, and the fields should be used to build bigger better equipped class rooms and say to H$LL with sports. Or build a factory in the space where the stadiums and arenas were so students that can't afford a college education could work to pay for their college education.
If there had been a factory on the Clemson campus, I wouldn't have had to go to a tech school, I could have gone to Clemson and paid my way through working a decent paying factory job right there on campus. It would have worked for me bc there was no way my mom could have afforded to pay for me to go to college from my dads SSI check she got every month. I had seen times where it wasn't money for groceries, and if not for my dads brother helping out from time to time, I would have gone to bed many times on an empty stomach, and that's the Gods truth. That is the very reason I give whatever I can afford to programs that help those that are less fortunate than I am and I still today with me now living from an SSI check every month bc I do understand what it's like to grow up with barely enough...

Jim didn’t leave for a better offer. But that isn’t even the point. The point was this is the new reality. Not a right or wrong issue, just the way it is and something you have to plan for and deal with.

I get your point and tend to agree 100%. However, there's another perspective here that's not often talked about or even considered by most.
The coach said after they made it to the final four...well in college basketball "just making it" to the final four equates to a championship in a young players mind. Just as Clemson basketball and many others have created a culture where "just making it" to the tournament equates to a successful season.
In these kids minds they did what they wanted. They didn't feel like it was necessary to chase a championship because they had already made the final four which was enough accomplishment and success for them to hang their hats on. So logically for them the next step is to secure their financial future.

All this ME FIRST stuff in team sports will eventually backfire I’m just not sure how, at least I hope it does so team sports get back to TEAMS not just a bunch of individuals playing together
