The Running QB

When you watch the SCAR game, it's not like Conner Shaw had a bunch of planned runs against us, mostly they were broken plays that had our LBs and DBs in coverage and he was able to escape the front line and run.
I keep reading about having a "spy" on Miller, but in my honest opinion, we should be preparing for Ohio State like we prepared for Georgia Tech. Assignments and reads and stopping the run is the #1 priority.
Shuey, Anthony, and Crawford cannot spy on Miller, they are too slow. Beasley could have a chance.
Thoughts?

No spy. We don't have anyone athletic enough to do this. Must be team effort. I worry about them having multiple big plays passing over top. Shaw awesome qb, this guy makes shaw look slow.

Spurrier called QB draws a bunch in that game, so in that sense they were designed QB runs, they just show pass first to set it up, that is why it was effective. Shaw sometimes makes it look like a scramble, but when you watch the OL blocks, they are run blocking, not pass blocking, meaning the draw was designed. I watch OL off the snap to see what type of block they are attempting, and in the last game, when Shaw ran, often it was with OL run blocking. Just saying.

Do you think we have a bunch of really slow DB's and safeties on our team? Really? Our secondary is pretty quick. I believe it is more scheme and assignment than athleticism, especially with Shaw who is not a speed demon. My suggestion would be to put a very fast and aggressive man to be close to the line and be there when receivers are covered and the QB has to tuck it and run, but that is what we've been missing. It mandates that we apply 'man-to-man" coverage, but it puts somebody directly responsible to cover the QB. (something we've been missing with Shaw, et. al.

Shaw moves faster than you may think, looks pretty quick to me... Time and time again our DEs rushed up the field on 3rd down creating lanes for him to run through and none of our LBs were fast enough to cut him off... Miller gonna be even harder to stop

It's not like Shaw is the reason we lost.
