NIL money 💰 and those guys will jump in a year or so, fo’ mo’ money 💰 Dabo tries to recruit players who want to be at Clemson, and graduate!
How do their graduation rates compare to Clemson? LSU will be Loaded with portal players purchased with NIL money. 💰 That is the SEC…..
Go Tigers, Beat LSU!!

a Player by himself is not, more like the NFL, plug and play in college. Don't buy into the portalbro mindset that you just can click a player like in Madden and they instantly fit a college system.

at the college level, with proven success in college football.
This is in contrast to guys on our depth chart who might not have played or had any success yet.
It’s about playing the odds, and when you have an immediate need, the transfer portal can be a huge help. Look at our basketball program, we have been much improved as a result of the portal.

It was the Will Wade vs Brad Brownell that made the most difference. Tiger Administrators have hunkered down with Brownell regardless of the success of the program. If the administrators are not all in for BB why should I. Have up season tickets some time ago.

you guys need to get out of this pay for play mess. Yes, I understand there could be some STUDs in the portal, but do you really want to get into the mercenary life of college football? SO, you may as well don't worry about recruiting any HS kids. You can find a better one in the portal, right? What if its kids Dabo and Co never recruited because of whatever reason. Just for you to HOPE to win with these kids. Go Follow UGA if that's what you want to do.

Maybe compared to them, but our goal is national titles and we aren't hitting the top 50 players like we used to at times. Not really top 100. We can see the probs at DE, LB, and RB. We are scrambling harder than we used to have to do. We will see how Dabo adjusts over time.

Its no secret the 5* recruits draw big money offers so we have a hard time getting a commitment from these guys with a few exceptions. We do very well with 3* and 4* guys. With good evaluations and coaching, we can be a solid top 10 team with the guys we attract. This is especially true if we continue to keep our roster intact as players improve year to year. I dont see Dabo going all in on bidding wars so we will get who we get and not throw a fit.
On a related note, I read an article about a top receiver who was expected to get an offer of $500K - $1M in NIL. Not sure how they get this through the review process as there is no way a young man would ever be worth this amount without pay for play included.

If Dabo is whiffing, your man Beamer isn’t even on-deck. I looked for the feather-fluffers in the top 25 (where Clemson is at 7) for 2026, and no chickens to be found. Finally located them at #41.
Maybe Shane is spending his time trying to recruit a Connor Stalions replacement.

Why draw the line at the top 100? Are you trying to prove a point? South Carolina has 2 top 100 recruits by the way.
How about if you look at the top 250? Clemson 10, South Carolina 4. Or the top 92 players? Clemson 1, South Carolina 1. Or the top 117 in America? Clemson 2, South Carolina 2. We can put the cutoff line wherever we want. Everyone knows that we are not recruiting with those elite of the elites at the moment but our class is fine.

Really? There are 34 total members of the combined B1G and SEC. Let's add Miami ($$$) and numerous schools in the Big12 with oil money. ALL of these schools have more re$our$e$ than Clemson. I'd say we are batting way above our resources.

Why do we pay our head coach among the highest salaries in college football?
Why do we pay our assistants more than just about any other program does?
These investments don’t line up with us being okay with our recruiting slipping.

We made the playoffs.
That is the definition of competing for a national title.
All of the other teams that didn’t make the cut, by the standard you are setting, were unsuccessful and should fire their overpaid coaches immediately because of their teams’ underperformance.
Ridiculous standard, Judge.

We were not one of the 12 highest ranked teams last year and lost our playoff game by two TDs. While it was great to win the ACC and get the automatic bid, we weren’t a legitimate national championship contender last year.
I believe we can be this year, and hopefully we will.

Recruiting slippage is due to the pay for play system in place. Get real! Gamecocks recruiting has improved for the same reason. They are dolling out much more money undercover that Clemson. When you have a medical school lawyer school pharmacy school and now also engineering and located in the corrupt Columbia state government you can have a lot of sleeze money. When Frank McGuire built a successful BB there it was money behind the scenes buying the NY players. Who other than getting paid would want to go to a bottom rated academic school inside the out of control crime area of Columbia.

Why do you do this? On par? do you not remember what this school was before Dabo or do you guys forget that. Fans like this make me sick to my stomach. Stop acting like Clemson has been a world beater for decades. We had our spot in the mix. Some of you need to grow the hell up. Cycles change. Clemson could get whomever they wanted then schools started paying more. Clemson isn't paying money like that. Especially for a whole roster. We might get a few. Deshaun, Trevor, some of the guys on the 2018 roster. But now we got to figure it out within the confines of this new climate. IF we win, we get who we want. Simple as that. Yall should know this too. But you think Clemson is just throwing money at recruits, you're mistaken.

Good post. Get real. The pay for play system has set Clemson back in recruiting. However. I would not change out Dabo and his model for nothing. We are facing corruption at its highest in college sports at this time. Only Fedetal intervention and enforcement will solve the issue.

If we are talking about national titles and not the coots. There is an issue and we are doing pretty good, but that is all. We arent recruiting to compete for national titles. The NIL changed that. Then again, let's see how the portal is used.

So you don’t think this years team is going to compete for a title? Many others disagree with you.

I think we can be a national championship contender this year.

We need continued maturation from our offense, but if Cade takes that next step and we figure out running back, we should have an elite offense.
Defense will need to improve a ton, but I really like the Allen hire and think he will make our defense a lot better.
Still, a lot will need to improve from last year for us to be elite this year.
As stated before, I do have concerns about 2026 given our losses and recruiting dip recently. I just don’t know if we have the talent or depth right now for consistently high level success.

Strictly using recruiting class rank as the standard, Clemson would never have won a national title. For that matter, we didn’t ever ‘deserve’ to be in a national championship game.
To my recollection, we’ve never had a composite #1 or #2 recruiting class.
The moral of the story is, although important, recruiting class rank is hardly the be-all end-all that too many CFB fans want to think it is.

Clemson has no peer schools… recruiting ratings don’t matter as all of our recruits are superior morally to any other school and we have a perfect family atmosphere on campus and all other schools are wallowing in sin and decadence!

This recruiting class is built in the trenches, its built to win football games. When was the last time Clemson got an OL class that was across the board this highly recruited?
The skill position players are where you get the star power from and even there the 3 wrs Clemson has committed are LEGIT, the safeties are LEGIT, QB has begun an acsension and has a very high ceiling.
There is alot to be excited about with this class, sucks to lose out on Atkinson and Perry but the class is loaded and unlike the teams mentioned most of this class will likely finish their careers with a paw on the their helmet at the first school they went to.

We are having issues with RB, DE, and LB. We did okay at cb possibly....maybe. DT might be solid. QB might be solid, but not up to whatnwe are used to. Doing great on OL, WR, and Safety. That sums it up. That said, the top recruiting schools have consolidated the talent more than ever. The top 50 or top 100 players that we used to get go elsewhere for the cash. I think we are going to be like Gonzaga is basketball, just doing it the right way with what we have. Culture and talent, but like them, we won't be getting the very top players.

A recruiting philosophy that focuses on long term relationships with a lot of these 5 star guys. Who is to say that things dont work out great at their initial landing spot and they end up with us after a year or two.
Seems like we are the school a lot of these top recruits want to attend but its hard to turn down the amount of $$ being thrown around. Let them get their $ and develop a little and then bring them home!

You have to pay big bucks in the portal for those guys and Dabo is still not sold on the use of the portal. Concerning this 2026 class, I think it's a good one if we can hold on to everyone.

Clemson is so blessed beyond what I thought we could ever be, let’s be thankful for where we are at and have faith in the coach that has kept us at the top regardless of changes/portal/NIL/heavy-duty cash from big businesses!
Some kept saying we couldn’t compete but we have an I’m so Thankful!

A lot of 4 stars just outside the top 100 according to them, but not other recruiting sites. We didn't really get that true stud player, but just a ton of players with solid potential.

Perhaps, though I would suggest looking at the historical trends of the recruiting of each of these schools in the Composite Top 100. As a note, I do not believe that these are the final rankings so the current rankings are subject to change between now and January 2026.
In terms of the historical trends since 2013, we have the following data of the number of Composite Top 100 commits for each school:
2013 - Georgia (1), Texas (2), Alabama (15), Ohio State (10), Clemson (1), SC (1) 2014 - Georgia (4), Texas (2), Alabama (13), Ohio State (10), Clemson (2), SC (0) 2015 - Georgia (5), Texas (5), Alabama (10), Ohio State (6), Clemson (6), SC (1) 2016 - Georgia (5), Texas (5), Alabama (9), Ohio State (7), Clemson (6), SC (0) 2017 - Georgia (7), Texas (0), Alabama (14), Ohio State (12), Clemson (3), SC (1) 2018 - Georgia (12), Texas (7), Alabama (4), Ohio State (13), Clemson (7), SC (0) 2019 - Georgia (9), Texas (5), Alabama (12), Ohio State (4), Clemson (3), SC (2) 2020 - Georgia (11), Texas (4), Alabama (10), Ohio State (7), Clemson (10), SC (3) 2021 - Georgia (8), Texas (2), Alabama (16), Ohio State (14), Clemson (7), SC (1) 2022 - Georgia (10), Texas (4), Alabama (15), Ohio State (7), Clemson (4), SC (0) 2023 - Georgia (12), Texas (9), Alabama (14), Ohio State (7), Clemson (4), SC (1) 2024 - Georgia (10), Texas (5), Alabama (9), Ohio State (6), Clemson (5), SC (2) 2025 - Georgia (8), Texas (10), Alabama (8), Ohio State (7), Clemson (2), SC (0) 2026 - Georgia (7), Texas (6), Alabama (9), Ohio State (5), Clemson (1), SC (2)
Things I noticed looking at the trends:
1) In 2020, we pulled in the most Top 100 composite recruits (10) yet both Alabama and Georgia still pulled in more Top 100 recruits. 2) In the years leading up to our first national championship, we pulled in very few Top 100 recruits relative to our years post the first national championship. 3) If we argue that recruiting is not going well relative to when we recruited so well in 2020 and 2021, then yes recruiting is down in terms of number of Top 100 players. Though neither of those recruiting classes led to the success we saw from 2015-2020. 4) Despite recruiting rankings generally predicting how well a team will do in the future such as Georgia winning national titles after their recruiting picked up in 2018 and Alabama having continued success over the entire decade with consistently high number of top 100 players each year, Clemson seems to be more of an anomaly. Our two national championships came before we were pulling in high number of top 100 composite players, and when we had our best years of pulling in top 100 recruits (2020 and 2021), we did not see the same success as from 2015-2020.

A very solid class. Its good, but not great at all at the moment. At least not compared some years back how we used to do. We are also lacking in certain needed areas in this class and we couldn't get the guys we wanted. If are being objective thats the truth. Maybe the best OL class ever though.

Curious if they’re going to try and flip someone worth getting at DE or LB. Seems like the only recruits we flip are from small schools that turn into projects.

Not so fast my friend. Our rankings are right up there with those teams but you have to realize we have fewer commits and that is not a bad thing but a roster number thing.

Nah...its worse. Definitely. Without the remotest question. Its not going bad by any means though. There is a talent gap growing between us and the most elite teams in recruiting though. After this season, maybe the following, we might really start to notice the difference between Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and us. We won't be at their levels. On the other hand, let's see how we do in the portal and in 2027. Part of the reason this season is so huge. We are still stacked now.

I am not seeing us maintaining it in 2026 and beyond. We would need to have other worldly coaching and development, and also be a major player in the transfer portal, to have any real chance and being a consistently elite program.

Just a reminder for those beating their chest about signing Gideon Davidson
Those that understand recruiting love Gideon but at the same time remember that teams like Alabama are loaded with Gideons.
Example ; the 2016 Alabama team we beat in the national championship had 5 NFL caliber running backs on that team simultaneously in addition to lesser talented RBs.
Yes , all 5 went on to play in the NFL.
What is so ******* hard to understand that if Clemson wants to play for championships 1 or even 2 possible NFL draft worthy backs are insufficient. We currently have 1.

If you want the top tier of elite players……a whole slew of ‘em…..
If you want the loaded roster of difference makers across the board then it takes more than just a sales pitch. You have to have actual product to sell. This is why Alabama was able to get whoever they wanted under Saban. There was an absolute expectation EVERY season that Alabama would be there in the National Championship game. As well, their starters were all getting their names called in the NFL draft. They had that indisputable reputation because they proved it on the field.
That’s what we have to do if we want the best of the best. We need to be viewed as the place to go if you want to win National Championships and sign a contract afterward. Winning takes care of everything.
Until you reach that point you develop a plan, execute it, take the wins you can get and methodically improve your stock.
…..Or you can rent a roster.

Sometime, take a look at Josh Pate's list of Clemson recruiting since 2010. The average rank is 11th and we are seldom in the top 5 rankings. During this time we had 2 Naty's and played in final 4 6 times which tells me Clemson is getting the talent. Judge recruiting by results on the field. Everything else is just noise.

Those ratings mean nothing as many of those guys never develop into good players when confronted with tough competition. Look at hoe many 3 stars are in the NFL now. Many times they get rated high if Alabama or Ohio State have them on their recruiting board. Not saying many 4 and 5s aren't going to be good players but it is not a shoe-in to being outstanding players.

who cares. and, when it comes to Clemson and Coach Swinney, few, very few, of these "expert" sites are gonna give much. They love to D ride the big programs and they really want the Clemson's of the world to go away. This isn't authentic CFB, anymore...it's a power grab, money grab and that's about it. Hardly any regulations in place, tampering is like a stage 5 cancer and no one, not anyone with authority, is going to do anything about it. It is what it is.
And, furthermore, there is 0 guarantee how these high flying, show me the bag, the women and the cars, athletes are going to pan out on the field of play. One ACL, one broken foot and reality begins to set in.

Clemson has 14 4 stars with some more recruiting to go, so it’s not bad. Also, when Clemson won a couple of titles the recruiting classes were never top 5 from my memory. Throw in the occasional 5 stars like TL and they weren’t ranked up with Bama or even close. Dabo has a good class committed right now.
I don’t see where the sky is falling and the Tigers gave my guys fits last year in our first ever game. It’ll be fine

There were no limits on money until July 1st this year. You had schools throwing all sorts of money around, money Clemson can't compete with. Sorry to hurt some of your feelings but it's the way it is. Also the money put into the program ie; salaries and amenities has ZERO to do with buying recruits. The reason we are seeing what we are seeing is because these schools knew the new agreement was going to be approved with the commission on NIL. So those schools took all there NIL money cut deals with their current players before July 1st so the could use the rev share on recruiting. Clemson on the other hand doesn't have the NIL money bc the fans that complain on here about recruiting won't give a dime to it but anyways Clemson had to use the rev-share as a tool to pay it's current players. Big difference between using rev share to recruit and rev share to maintain your roster. But I'm sure all these ppl would be fine if Clemson didn't retain Woods, Parker, Sammy, TJ, Wesco, Antonio, Hampton, keeping G. Davidson. among others just to have extra money recruiting. Let's keep in mind if Clemson can do what a lot of us expect make a major run hopefully to the end of the playoff then have maybe four 1st rounders what that could do for recruiting. Also don't forget these recruiting sites MORE THAN EVER BEFORE are catering to first the SEC then certain schools of the BIG 10. I'd be interested in seeing the results of the average of recruits that rise and fall and what school they are committed to or are being recruited by. Some of you seriously need to get your heads out of behinds. Also if you are fighting and arguing over recruiting and Clemson football and are over the age of 23 you may need to find a hobby OR ACT YOUR FRIGGIN AGE. Embarrassing. 8 years ago after the DW natty there were fans on here that claimed we would become entitled like Bama fans and you had ppl say not Clemson not Clemson fans. Well here we are and here we are. Sad.

Per Paul Strelow’s recruiting update this morning, there is one current verbal commitment with one foot out the door. He didn’t disclose who as the recruit still hasn’t decided, but apparently Clemson has drawn their line in the sand on any further adjustments to the package offered. If this class starts bleeding recruits like last year then any optimism about rev share being the answer for the chaos will be over. Dabo will have to get even more serious about plugging the recruiting holes with developed transfer players that sign and enroll in short order. Making non-binding offers then waiting months for a verbal commitment to convert to an enrolled student athlete is just too much uncertainty.

We could recruit with the best of them before breaking the recruiting rules became legal. The model of Dabo that the entire University has accepted does not do as well with corruption sleeze and pay for play as well as holding auctions with athletes. Hopefully Trump as in most everything else in our government will do away with the pay for play program of college sports.
