...is the nonstop loop of BS platitudes.
Real Recovery only begins when the true problem has been correctly identified and openly & honestly admitted.

I will say this: It is inevitable to have a few down years here and there. Many of you don't know what our program was from the mid 60s on. I sat on wooden bleachers with splinters, raggedy embarrassing stadium, no decks (none needed). I remember at one point our crowning achievement was kicking like a 50+ yd field goal against OK. No one had scored on them prior to that. There was no frustration about getting beat, that was a given. We used to play UGA yearly and they beat the ever living he:: out of us. It wasnt until the mid 70's did we make a turn. Charlie Pell put us back into the competitive arena and then dumped us-shadt character #1..DF started building a program. The year before the first Natty we were like 6 and 5. We win and the trustees and politicians started trashing DF as he ran the program his way. They also disrespected him with salary.....then came HATFIELD-shady character #2 OMG! We were lucky to have survived that one. Our admin pulled off a hotel room deal to switch out Danny Ford for Hatfield who was at Arkansas. After he stomped the program in the dirt, Tommy West really tried to get us back but he wasn't the coach then that he later became. He was a super nice guy and people knew he had to go but they didn't want to fire him. Our record sucked and we felt really bad firing him-go figure. Then came the Bowden years. While never quite turning the corner, Clemson owes him a lot. He put the pieces in place for future success. His loyalty to Rob Spence (the 1st person Dabo fired) and the dreaded unblocked bubble screen became too much. The players were polled for a staff member as an Interim. Overwhelmingly Dabo! He built the program the right way-on honesty and trust. Enter NIL and the whole game changed. As someone who's lived through coaches just short of Satan himself, feel blessed with our program...and it is a program-not a season. Our expectations are not unreal. We're playing money ball so we have to contend with the "how much" as well as tellng momma we will not abandon her son. We'll be back. Not everyone wants to be a NIL biatch. I found Cade's behavior disappointing and hypocritical in that respect-especially with black out crosses on his face. Talk is cheap. In that instance, I did have an unrealistic expectation. Anyway-remember what we watch on Saturday is a game without knowing the whole story of the team. After all these years I do not fear we will fail. Dabo has made many hires and fires. He'll need to make a few more but the ship is not sinkimg...more like scraping barnacles at the moment...but we will be a fine restoration

I became a Clemson fan 55 years ago at age 6. Friends of my mom and dad had Clemson stuff all over their walls, naturally I asked what it was all for (I barely knew what football was at that point in time) For my 7th or 8th birthday, they gave me my first IPTAY stuff and I was absolutely hooked from then on. I have seen some lousy seasons but while everyone wants to win every time (naturally) they were still MY Tigers - every game. Dabo ain't perfect but what he has built the Clemson brand into is the best thing I have ever seen. The only downside I see is the price of good tickets are completely out of reason, I can only see attending another game on a very special occasion. (First World problems) I too remember the raggedy days of the stadium but it didn't bother me, I was always excited to be there.
Great post.

I'm not a coach...but I am a man. As a man I'm not about to keep getting my butt kicked time after time....after time....after time....after time....year after year....after year...after year......by the same person or team all the time. If a person has even been abused or bullied.....they're likely going to avoid going through it again with someone else. If you do anything and fail....you're likely not going to go through the exact same thing...only to consistently fail consecutive times....repeatedly or whatever.
Sure we have benefitted from consecutive success against Chickenlina and they just might get us every now and then or once every 12 years. However Chickenlina hasn't found a way to stand up consistently......thats not our fault. Another example....Florida State used to break our hearts in football all the freaking time....and they were the new bully in the ACC neighborhood until....Virginia...and dare I say it ....NC State started pushing back.
The thing is Clemson better start having a far much better sense of pride about their football program and any other athletic sport they have or there will be some problems that won't go away. Again...as far as the football program is concerned.....that is our main money maker...and if they are going to let that just go to waste...then you might as turn the place into a Division III community center. Yes....we have had great unbelievable success and the objective is to maintain that TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY. What we're seeing is not a slip up here and there......its a steady collapse because what has been put in place for the new design of college football.
Who wants to go back to the days when Clemson was getting destroyed and embarrassed every week?? I know I sure don't. This Athletic Administration is too soft and most of our players on the football team is soft too.....and it is showing for everyone to see ...especially the way college football is organized now. I mean you had Troy blanking us in an entire first half of a game.....before we scratched and clawed our way back. Even North Carolina used to have more pride in football than what they do now. I would hate to be them...but we are on our way if we can't get Clemson together.

Wow I was there and remember the long FG. Obed and Donald years. Remember a trip to Rice too. Yep there were many lean years. Dabo isn’t stupid. He knows what ROI means. Gotta make some big changes soon.

Unrealistic expectations?
You mean thinking we can have a better program than GT, UVA, or Louisville?

No. I mean thinking that all the 'friends & family' will automatically become successful players/coaches by association without previous experience/results or the accountability of having their feet held to the fire.
And the idea that more staff is better for the team when it appears to be more chaos and confusion instead.

Will, is that you? First would be to remove his kid as paid “coach”.

say it in the middle of the season. Truth will come after season. If you see Dabo make major changes like trimming down support staff and getting a QB from portal, we've got a chance. If it's status quo, things are only going to get worse

Firing the support staff that only holds a job due to friends and family status would be a big first step.
