The newest knock going around on DW4 is ball velocity

Supposedly they measured Watson's ball velocity at the combine @ 49 mph. That was by far the lowest of the top QBs. Supposedly, the target number for QBs is 55 mph.
The problem I have is that they didn't ask him to throw the ball as hard as he could so why measure it at the combine?

He probably wasn't trying to throw with velocity though. His passes were perfectly placed though.

There is no way that Brad Kaaya throws with more velocity than Watson generally speaking. There is tons of tape that proves that. I even read an article once of someone breaking down the arm strength of Watson vs Kaaya on similar throws using GIFs. I wish I could find it again. It was like night and day.
People are saying that that 49 number pretty much eliminates him for being selecting by any team that plays in windy stadiums (ie. KC, NYJ, Clev, Chi). For places like AZ and Hou, it won't matter as much.
There is game tape of Watson throwing the ball 65 yds in the air to Peake for a TD. You can't make that throw if you lack arm strength.

many NFL Qb's throw it farther than that. If you throw it that far....you have to have velocity.

All I know is that he throws the ball fast enough to beat Alabama, OSU, Va Tech, USCjr, FSU and Auburn in the same year....

He beat USCjr throwing, one foot passes to Scott from a one legged stance a few years back. Probably shouldn't include coots with real FB teams.

I swear people are just trying to come up with stuff justify him not being the best QB in the draft. After DW4 goes and proves everyone wrong at the combine they have to search for something else. It's really pretty ####### pathetic, I haven't even heard about the scouts even measuring ball speed until now.

Bunch of made up garbage. He puts the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there. I guess if you like 60 mph incomplete passes, then Watson ain't your guy.

Before the combine it was his accuracy. Debunked.
Now it's velocity, these people are making excuses for not watching film. Just lazy. If Watson wanted to throw hard, He would have. His focus was on accuracy, footwork, mechanics, proving #1 QB in the combine. Seems to me, I overheard the guys talking in the background saying " See, He clearly can make all the NFL throws".
