think SMU gets left out. Their SOS is 76. I can only find one P4 school lower than that (UNC). Yes, it will go up due to our game, but the damage may already be done. That may be more than enough ammo for the committee to leave them out.
And to be honest, that may break the system in it's first year.
I know it's been posted about talk of SMU opting out is heating up. Not sure I buy that, but with the way the talk is going, I wouldn't blame them. There would be severe penalties though.

The committee has said that no team will be punished for playing in the championship game. So with that in mind, if Clemson beats SMU, they should remain where they are, Clemson gets in and Alabama should be out. That would be the correct way to handle it.

They need to just stop pretending and have a permanent slot for Alabama. People having issues with acc/clemson/smu is just dumb. They should be ticked at Bama and the esecpn machinery.

I, also, think the Committee has to be very circumspect about 2/3rds of the slots going to the SEC and B1G.

into that 11 slot. They will drop SMU to 12, which knocks them out, due to a Group of Five Champ taking that spot.
Two years in a row, in completely different ways, the ACC gets screwed. At least we are assured of getting ONE ACC team in this year.
Now, going forward, the SEC will try to renegotiate this thing so that they can find an avenue to keep the ACC Champ out altogether, hide and watch.
