I’ll start with some of the positives that I saw today in detail, the biggest improvement is by far the offensive line, hands down the best position group that played today, impressed to say the least, the change was a sigh of relief. The defense is another championship caliber defense, the talent of defense is refreshing considering we have an average DC at best. We gave up yards in the second half but between the defense being gassed and honestly they gave up after giving up the TD, understandably so knowing that the offense was not giving them any support. To the glaring issues though, while we are a top ranked program, we have too many coaches that are not worthy of or don’t have a pedigree worth mentioning, we deserve to have the best coaches money can buy considering we have some of the highest paid coaches in college football. No we don’t have the world beater Wr’s that we are used to having in the old “WRU”, but they are good enough if given the chance, while unfortunately if you have watched Clemson football the last few years the issue falls solely on the QB position. Yes the last few years we could give blame to the horrid offensive line for the issues that thankfully Watson and Lawerence were able to make do considering their generational talent could mask some of these issues along with having explosive running backs. Cade honestly did not play a bad game, BUT he is an average QB at best that makes very question decisions. It is not that he doesn’t have the arm talent, but it’s that everytime he drops back, you can visibly tell he’s uncomfortable in the pocket and gets happy feet, the game is too fast for him and he freaks out and makes a hesitant decision and slow to get the ball out. This is not something you can just teach out of a QB, which is even more concerning that he’s the best QB on our roster and we do not have any non project type of QB recruits in the near future. I am hoping and praying that Cade can find his mojo because we have the pieces that can make this a championship team if he gets a fire underneath him, but that’s to be seen. I love Mafah, he’s a workhorse RB, but he’s no homerun threat which makes it harder to become the explosive offense we had during our championship years. We literally have turned into Georgia before they got on their championship run, always a QB away from winning and forced to be a ground and pound team, which is ineffective in the current college landscape, the great offenses have turned to the air raid type of offense, which require a great QB or some WRU type receivers.Thankfully, I don’t see us losing a regular season game this year so it gives Cade the time to really make this offense thrive, but that’s to be seen. I still have hope that our offense can find its grove because Cade did make a few really nice throws once we went into the hurry up offense which I believe we should be in the entire game, gives him less to think about and just play freely, he’s not Peyton Manning so give him less IQ things to deal with, take the reigns off and just let him compete. If we don’t have improvement at the QB position, I hate to say it, but we need to offer the best QB money can buy this offseason because that is literally the missing piece to our puzzle right now, while obviously their are small improvements that can be made with coaching/scheming, and some of his supporting cast on offense, the major problem IS 100% without a doubt the QB position. We have the talent and while the team gave up today, I am hopeful that by the end of the season we grow into the championship team we are used to having. We definitely have some things to look forward to because our offensive line turning into a strength and our defense not going anywhere will keep us in nearly any game we play regardless, considering that Georgia 🇬🇪 s considering to have some of the best offense and defensive lines in college, our guys in the trenches looked every bit as good if not better, at least in the first half. No we don’t have the depth that they have but if we play complimentary football, we don’t need the 3 and 4 deep to win every game we play. So cheers we will look back on this day as the stepping stone back into greatness, let’s hope that our offense finds its identity through better QB play and look forward to the playoffs this year! Go Tigers!

TL or DW in that game today, we still get beat, not as bad, but still get beat. No question Cade is not THE guy, but you said it yourself about Mafah. Love the guy but does defences FEAR him the way they did with ETN. If Cade was better, do you think we have a WR that defensive coordinators would scheme against? We have 0 playmakers and haven't for quite awhile. As great as TL and DW were, they had playmakers around them.

I disagree, I believe that with Watson we boat race Georgia today. No we don’t have playmakers around him that would be feared, but not even hunter renfrow was feared, he was just always open and had sure hands. With a threat like Watson it tends to open up everything else. When they fear your QB, it opens up passing lanes, it opens up running lanes because the QB is such a threat. If Watson was playing today we win something to the effect of 28-10.

opposing coaches telling their D on 3rd down to make sure you knew where he was, just didn't work out for them. Lol Well have to disagree on Watson being in this game and we boat race them, I see your points, but just don't think the rest of this team is talented enough. I will say I think he'd make a difference from a leadership standpoint and making the guys around him believe.

Love your optimism critter, but respectfully disagree. We have good talent, not great. I have to agree with the other posts. I don't see enough elite playmakers at critical positions. One of which is QB. Sadly, I don't see elite coaching either. Not on offense or defense. Too many players on both sides of the ball are not living up to their abilities.
Otherwords, they aren't progressing. Our defense didn't get gassed. The toposesseion was 32-28. That's not much. They didn't give up either imo. We will win games this year because of weak competition and you and others will feel We're elite. Should we make the playoffs, the first team with a pulse will expose and embarrassed us again.

I can see your points, but anytime you play a game where you know you have lost, you realize that 100% isn’t given from that point on, the constant busted coverages and the 10-15 yards of cushion was concerning. Maybe we don’t have enough talent in the secondary to play the Venables style of aggressive defense we are used to. Venables defense was always suspect to a busted play here and there but typically had enough sacks and turnovers to negate the aggressiveness. With we we tend to stack the box and play soft coverage to not give up the big play, but gives them plenty of space to buckle and dime down the field. The issue with this defense is it is based on an expectation that the other team is not good enough to be able to sustain a long drive. We bought one of the best OL coaches that we could buy and it turned out to be a GREAT hire, time to go through the closet and hire some quality coaches in other positions. I like the Riley hire, just got to get the right we under his tenure.

With this offense we will struggle with the like of NC State. This season could be a another 4 loss season very easily. We never really improved the passing game last season, tbis game gives me little reason to expect more

I disagree, with how our offensive line did tonight against one of the best DL’s in college, we will be able to run on any team the rest of our schedule. Our OL has made a 360. Our hurry up at the end gave me hope that we can make plays if Cade has less time to think.

The hurry up was in garbage time against UGA backups. We still have no passing game. If I was scheming against Clemson, I would press the receivers, stack the box, and make them try to beat you with the passing game. Stop our rum and you've stopped our offense. I think Garret is handicapped by a limited QB and a meddling head coach.

I agree that it was against backups but you could tell that it was going smoother. Riley isn’t the issue, he is limited to the QB he has, not that Cade can’t become the guy, he just isn’t yet. I think while we will run at will against our regular season foes, a playoff caliber team will stop our running game easily considering if you stack the box vs a bruiser type of RB, the run is easily stopped. It’s not like ETN where every touch is a home run threat to break 1 tackle and take it to the house. Dabo isn’t meddling as much as people think, he has lost the fire that he used to have ie. The Notre dame game a few years back where we won in the storm.
