The fourth best team in the country did not

Get into the playoff. Forget all the discussion between Alabama and Ohio State. To me the team who should have got in was Auburn. They played 4 games against teams in the current top 4, going 2-2 in those games. They beat Bama, beat Georgia and only lost to us by one score. They're essentially being punished for playing the toughest schedule in the country. I mean really, four games against teams that have been ranked number 1 in the country at some point during this season. That's tough for any team. And if I had to be completely honest, if I had to choose the one team out of Alabama, Ohio State and Auburn that i didn't want to play, it would be Auburn. They, to me, would by far be the toughest out.

I agree with you, and I agree that out of the possible teams we would play, Auburn would be the one I do not want to pay. But that's where the balance between best 4 and and most deserving comes into play. It stinks that their schedule was so tough, but 3 losses and no conference championship should not be rewarded with a playoff birth.

If any of the four teams in the playoff had to play a 4 game schedule against the other three teams, like Auburn did, how many would go thru that undefeated? We already know Bama and Georgia lost to Auburn. What about Oklahoma, what about us. And let's not forget, Auburn played a 4 game stretch that included Georgia, Alabama, and then a rematch with Georgia. That's brutal for any team. I know they have 3 losses, but who are those losses to and who did they beat. They keep throwing around this term, the eye test. Well, the eye test tells me Auburn is one of the top 4 teams in the country. Period. If nothing else, they should be in over Bama. They beat them head to head.

Bama was rewarded for playing an easy schedule and winning nothing.

You are exactly right Geeville. I got into a discussion with a Bama fan in Georgetown yesterday. He also could not answer when I asked him who has Bama defeated to earn them the right to be in the Final Four. Crickets. He said Clemson fans would be crying after this game. I asked, You mean like last year ?

Conference champs were snubbed last year to weekly OSU in and geeville tiger is crying this year when 2 confereceived champs were snubbed this year to weekly bama in.
Before the champ games Clemson Oklahoma Aub Wisconsin
Were in. 2 teams had to play an extra game and were booted , which is how it should be.
1 team sat on the couch, did nothing and got in, which is not how it should be.

so it was hardly "rewarded for doing nothing"...
Once Wisconsin lost, the committee had to look at OSU and Bama and determine which was better

They should have looked at the other 3 confrence champs and pick which division winner/conference winner got the 4th spot.
That is why there are divisions and conference champ games.
To weed 10-12 teams down to 5 or 6....on the field.
Fork the eye test.

ok.. but you are changing the criteria...

the charge of the committee is "best 4"... not "most deserving or conference champs/division champs"...
Based on what you are saying, it's more than just the decision.. you are saying the entire process needs to be overhauled and what is deemed important changed.

You Bama supporters explain to the rest of us what in Bama's resume qualifies them. The talking heads on ESuxPN says its because they beat everyone convincingly. That is also called running up the score. Most teams don't do that. Secondly, you can win convincingly when you have a weak schedule. We're listening.

The only issue with that is, they should have beaten LSU, lost to Georgia the first time, and then beaten Georgia the second time.
There should never, ever, be a playoff contender that has lost 3 games in a season regardless of who they've played. Max losses should be capped at 2, thus far that hasn't even happened.
