Last year it was fire BB and ML, now he is winning because he had time and he is coach of the year candidate. Sometimes time is needed and not just what we see on the W and L columns.

You are looking for posts from the guys who posted over the past few years bc the team was doing poorly?
The team is doing great so who would complain?
Guys everyone simply wanted US to win more games.
Congratulations to CBB, the team, and especially to the new AD who allowed CBB to add better assistants/support staff, but also made his EXPECTATIONS clear!!!!

The team has a winning record all but one of those years so for Clemson Basketball that is hardly a poor performance. Perhaps learn a little history ?

To believe a coach should magically perform better than a hundred years of history with no additional resources is delusional at best

This sounds a lot like a coot being proud of their 7-6 record and giving their coach a raise. A lot like that.
I understand that the Brad cultists have hated to have to eat that #### sandwich all these years and are now gleefully taking their chance to gloat. It is what it is. But the season isn’t over yet. Plenty of time for Brad to pull a Brad. I hope he doesn’t, but wouldn’t be surprised, based upon the history you are so proud of.

As a rule I don't call for the firing of a coach (except in the extraordinary case of off the field misbehavior kind of stuff).
However, lets not pretend that criticism toward Brownell is entirely unwarranted. He's been here quite a long time and we have not had extended and sustained success. Again, not calling for his head, and not saying he isn't a great coach (he certainly knows more about Basketball than I ever will), but as the head coach the lack of sustained success squarely falls at his feet.

I'm in the same camp. I'm not calling for his head, but if he were to be let go in favor of someone new, I probably wouldn't mourn the loss. There are a lot of positives in our program in CBB's tenure, but consistent top-level play and recruiting has not been among them. I think CBB is a good, maybe even better than many, coach, but he is not and probably never will be a great coach or recruiter. He seems to be a good leader as far as turning out good young men, but not necessarily with high-quality basketball. He has many any number of bone-headed moves on the court, and his on-the-floor lineups often make little sense. But again, I'm not mad that he has not been let go, because of the positive he certainly does bring.
If a few new assistants can bring enough oomph to put CU basketball in the top 4 or 5 team in the ACC in most years, I'd be happy to keep him and that staff.
Some people here (harumph JK harumph) say he's a great coach just needs time. Thirteen years is plenty of time. A great coach (whom I and most of us cannot stand!) went 17-13, 10-17, and 11-17 in his first 3 years, then went 24-10, 23-9, 37-3 in his next three years, won several NCAA tournaments, and basically won 30+ game more often than not. His worst full year was 18-13 and he still made the NCAA tournament.
CBB has never sniffed that air.
Nonetheless, I am enjoying this year.

What I’ve said is that more resources for Brad would make us better. That means more funding for the program for assistants and support staff, and continued facility upgrades. It also means better and more consistent fan support.

time and time again.
You act like we've actually arrived after 13 years under this leadership.
Yet again, dozens and dozens of teams have done more with less. He has everything you mentioned, and good coaching doesn't rely on money
But hey, all you need to do is log in with your Clemson mountaineers scok, then that will be 4 usernames in one thread.
Something is not right with you.

What exactly, would we need to give Brad resource-wise, to make him and the basketball team produce better results on the court and on a consistent basis? I can't see that paying him more would produce any difference.

A miniature golf course would help Brad's ability to coach, obviously.
I personally think he needs to put 6 players on the court more often. That would help us in the tournament, no doubt.

He has a very good team this year and they are playing exceptionally well. The only thing they’ve accomplished so far though is a couple of streaks that are records for this program. They still haven’t won anything and haven’t since Brad has been.
I expect the team will do reasonably well the rest of the season maybe play very well in the ACC tournament maybe with a couple of games in the NCAA tournament. But if all those things happened, that would still be the exception not the rule.
And then what happens next year and the year after that in the year after that. We’ve been down this road before. He gets the team that has the chemistry and the work ethic and down ACC and we do very well. He will get a contract extension and everyone will be happy. But can we be consistently decent? Can we be consistently good? That question so far after 12 years is a resounding no.
Having said that I’m a tiger fan and have been since I was a child and I graduated from there and I would love nothing more to be wrong and for this to be the beginning of Brownell winning a few championships of any sort. But I am cautiously best when it comes to him and what he has done for this program. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

I just can't imagine anybody like myself wanting Brownell replaced after 12 years as HC, and only two NCAA tourney appearances. I mean why would someone like myself want better for Clemson even though I was for Brownell 10 years into his failures as our Clemson HC. Just how many seasons has Brownell had like this 2022-2023 season in the past 12 years. If I'm not mistaking, this is his first in the past 12 years, so WHY would anyone want him fired!!! I think that it was bc it sounded like the best thing to do for Clemson, honestly....

He’s shown us all exactly what he is and what he can do. He’s done a good job this year and we have a good team. But it’s still time for him to go and for Neff to bring in some new blood.

I would have fired him last year with the first round knock out in the ACC tournament. I don’t know who I’d have hired but I would bet money this teams record would be fairly similar with whom ever it was.

I’m right here. I was part of the crowd

I’ll admit that I was wrong about Brownell.
It has taken a long time, but he has put together a great team this year. They are fun to watch!
Could we have hired someone to get us here earlier? Maybe
Will he be able to sustain and build on this success? TBD
But for now I’m enjoying the run and happily eating my crow

How can you be wrong? If many, many poor years didn't make him a bad coach, why does one good year erase it all?

Fair question - I believe people are capable of changing and getting better

My biggest criticism was the way we always seemed to lose the close ones.
Honestly I think Brownell has coached this year like it was his last with nothing to do after “the letter”
I think the team has embraced that attitude and they seem to be playing fearless basketball.
Hope he can bottle it up and bring it year on year

I coached for 11 years. By your standards, I never reached my potential. You are clueless. Speak about things you have experience with, otherwise wait ..

we're paying him the 38th biggest salary in America, and during his 12 year tenure we've finished in the top 40 TWICE.
Does that make sense to you? I like Brad.. he's a cool dude who's done everything right at Clemson.. except win enough.
Nobody dislikes Brad, the man. We just don't appreciate VASTLY overpaying him for the actual results.
We should absolutely make the tourney this year. This is the best roster he's had since he inherited Purnells guys. Thing is, this is the peak roster. If we don't make the tournament or If we're one and done in the tourney, the writing is on the wall. Time for change. Agreed?

Team is playing well. Brownells record after 12 years - speaks for itself. One positive season every few years is not what I would brag about.

I’m not sold on Brownlee, but he has definitely bought himself another season.

Yes they are complaining. They want him fired now. They want this team to sink. Real Clemson fans.

I still want him gone. yes were better. League is down. Strength of schedule is only 72. Eight quad 4 games and only 6-2.
We will lose a lot of experience after this year. Probably back to the same.
I just think he can't get us to the next level and win on a constant basis. Its just time for a change after 13 years of mediocrity.

based on style of play and performance in key games & close games. But I'm happy for team, players and fans that Tigers have a run going this season - hopefully it will last.

fact that I just don't enjoy basketball, except when it involves beating Puke or UNCheat. However, "takes time"?!?! You do know this is his thirteenth year? This year's freshmen were five years old when he started coaching here.

It’s all about the tourney so you might want to wait on all the comments. If he loses in the first round, he probably needs to hit the road.

Honestly am excited about the team and like Brownell personality wise I know our history sucks in basketball and I will not cry if someone comes and swoops up Brownell. Maybe he can underachieve somewhere else and stay employed for 14 years. I love Clemson in all sports. I like winning. Sue me
