THE BLAME GAME ACCOMPLISHMENTS - ZERO

I've read a lot of post on social media blaming the Offensive Line, DJ Uiagelele, Justyn Ross, and Joe Biden for the atrocity that was the offense last night. Sure, there's a lot to clean up. However, it does not help any to place the blame on the players. The game is won or lost with a clipboard. For two seasons we've watched this offense play right into the hands of a defensive scheme. Something has to change with the play calling; plain and simple.

No doubt! Elliot has had 3 years to self reflect and make changes to his scheme and how to call a game. He hasn’t done it. Time to move on after this season and get a fresh spark and set of eyes. Hire a nee OC and oline coach from somewhere outside this current staff.

"the game is won or lost with a clipboard" is by far the most telling cimment I have read on hete. It shows without a doubt you have ZERO understanding of this game, or any other for that matter. Plain and simple

The Clemson roster is loaded with an embarrassment of riches. We're talking about guys who possess the speed, strength, skill, intellect, and unteachable talent. A wise man once said, "timing and skill will defeat speed and strength any day." Well, that statement rings true for Football. Football is a lot like chess in that it's played with a set number of pieces on a board of invented space. As an example of what I'm talking about, I will provide you with what Brent Venables did last season when he compensated for a lack of depth on the front four. I take it, you don't play so well at the game of chess?
At the end of the day, there is no excuse for the poor play calling. For example, we continued to throw slants and bubble screens. Those were obviously not succeeding because the UGA defense was set up schematically to counter that by bringing pressure against DJ. Why then did we consistently continue to run those plays?
With a few design QB runs through a QB draw would have kept the defenses honest and caused them to focus on the center instead of the edges. Then a Bubble Screen with an empty backfield would have gained some success.
Also, this would have forced the UGA defense to assign a spy to DJ which would have freed up a TE for a quick slant underneath. In doing so, it would have caused the defensive backs to play closer to the line and allow the WR corps to run deeper routes.
You cannot just go and run a play, you have to use a strategy that sets you up for the chunk yards and touchdown passes. Having run a one dimensional offense, we telegraphed everything and allowed the UGA defense to impose their will all night long. Again, this had everything to do with play calling and very little to do with player ability or talent.

chrome helmets we’d win a lot more. No way UGA beats us last night if we had chrome helmets.
