The argument for firing Brownell if we don’t make ncaa tournament?

Losses to the coots and Loyola Chicago is the argument to fire brownell. Those two loses is not acceptable at Clemson where the best is the standard. So in my opinion we make the ncaa tournament and Brownell still has his job. But fail to make the ncaa tournament then brownell should be fired. Those two loses I mentioned above if we had won those two games the we are guaranteed in the tournament regardless of what happens in the ncaa tournament.

The argument or arguments there of, have been compiled over a 13 year period of time in which multiple failures to exceed, and excel the program to new heights have been viewed as the reason for his separation at years end.

We keep saying it is based on 13 years of historical performance but then we turn around and say if he makes the NCAAT this year, he gets to keep his job. So, which is it?

The idea is his job is hanging by a thread. Not making the Tournament would just be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Or stirs the drink if he makes it.
It’s all very simple really.

So, what you are implying is that it really is year to year and we are just waiting for the year he really falls off the cliff vs. just stubbing his toe...

The assumption about make the tournament or be fired came from a letter penned by the new AD Graham Neff that many interpreted that way.

The loss to Boston colleges nothing to be proud of either. Brownell got out coached by his previous assistant who had less talent.Shame shame

So we have 4 bad losses, but the LSV loss stands alone among them.
SCAR: ok, we lost to SCAR, who is not very good. But SCAR is a power-5 team, playing at home, 2-point loss early in the season. But SCAR also jumped up and bit Kentucky in Rupp Arena and took #1 Alabama to OT before falling by 2 points.
BC: BC not very good either, but they ended up 1 game below .500 in the ACC (9-11) in 10th place. They beat us, but they also beat Wake Forest and handed UVa their lunch (15 points). We're not the only "good" team they beat.
Loyola-Chicago: inexecusable. The only saving grace was that it was an early-season game. If this had been the only Q4 loss, we're almost certainly in the nCAAT.
LSV: what can we say. LSV was the worst P5 team (NET 311; coincidentally, California, NET 310, was part of our early season schedule too, contributing to the woeful SOS). Clemson is LSV's only non-Q4 win. 27 other teams managed to beat them. Even with the BC loss, if we had won the LSV game, we'd have tied for first place in the ACC regular season.
So in my opinion, the LSV game stands well above the other "bad" losses on the year, as a true albatross on the season.

I just asked this question above. If it is really based on 13 years of history then why should making the NCAAT this year enter into it?

Jessy89, don't take this as an insult but I believe that your criteria is off center. You want to fire a coach with two or three bad losses if we don't make the NCAA Tourney? That makes no sense...but you have a right to your opinion.

team that fires the coach after a season where he has moderately exceeded expectations. I think the real issue here is ya'll were assuming he was going to be around the usual 7th or 8th place finish and then you'd have a leg to stand on. Instead he finished upper echelon in the conference and you're all dumbfounded and its killing your argument.
Produce the name of the coach and i'll tell you if i'm on board or not. If its another project coach from mid-western iowa tech then i'm staying course and waiting on him to actually flounder. If its a real name from a serious coaching search then i'm all ears. But i've yet to see that actually take place at Clemson.

You be honest.
Something along the lines of "We believe in giving the coach a chance to prove himself. We gave CBB 13 years to do so, and overlooked a few bad seasons where things outside of his control perhaps impacted the season. But we had clearly expressed to CBB that we expected certain standards to be met, and despite doing some of the things we asked him to do--producing a positive season overall, and we credit him with that--the overall record and failure to achieve certain milestones meant that we had to ask CBB to move on."

the point is he had a good year in Clemson standards...

not a great year but a good year.
BTW Those coaches are coaches you have named. Who are the real names that our admin would go get?
remember back when clemson was looking for a football coach and t-netters said Bill Parcells, Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Nick Saban.... ok those were names that fans put out there.
I know Neff would never put out a list of names before he's hired them but if its another Brad Brownell or Larry Shyatt then why would we change? Its gotta be a go-getter, for sure candidate type hunt. Someone that gets us over the hump. Brad has us right the crest of the hump every year.. which you would hope would get us over at some point but not yet. I've never been against change but it woudl have to be a good hire b/c we could easily fall back to horrid like we used to be. Really quickly.

I believe it should be based off the 13 years he’s had.
It’s time for change.
