Not ready for prime time
South Carolina held the ball for almost forty minutes, converted 11-of-21 third down chances and shut down Clemson's offense in a 27-17 victory Saturday night, the Gamecocks' fourth consecutive win in the series. Photo by Joshua S. Kelly / US PRESSWIRE Full Story » |

The ACC should lower academic standards so it can compete with other conferences. Clowney barely had the academic qualifications to get into USC. There's no way he could have attended Clemson or any other ACC school. Football is more important than an education in SC.

I've heard this for 50 years. How does Notre Dame do it? What we really need to do is get out of the ACC, but it's too late for that.

Not that the Chad called any kind of game worth watching. No sweeps, abandoned what was working. And it didn't help to have Nuk drop 2 or 3 sure passes. And, where was Sammy?

Easy questions. We were beaten by a superior team. Their offensive line kept our offense off the field, and when the offense did get on the field, their defense ran our offense off the field. You can't call a lot of offensive plays when your offense isn't on the field.

10 meaningless wins are, well, meaningless. We had two real games this season and lost both. I wonder what direction the team is going. Will we tank with the rest of the helpless ACC or will we be the team to bring respect back to the ACC. At this point, this year is done. Let's hope next year is different. Natives very restless.

As long as we are in this lousy basketball league, I don't think much is going to change with football. Winning 10 games in the ACC is not much. But it's too late to get out now. And it is fast becoming a lousy basketball league.

Tired of losing to South Carolina. We need a complete attitude adjustment. We no longer believe we can win.

Because if Clemson leaves the ACC, we'll get kicked like that four or five times a year. If FSU leaves, we may not have a choice, but "Not Ready for Prime Time" is right.

Mixed Emotions
Nov 25, 2012, 4:58 PM

I do not know exactly what to think about this year or the past few. On one hand we have finally started winning the games we should win and we are getting that 9+ wins a year that everybody has thought we should have been doing for years HOWEVER we continue to melt in big games. Being in the ACC does not prepare us to play the South Carolinas of the world. If we faced those kinds of teams 3-4 times a year we would be more prepared but with the teams we play now we are superior in talent so we are able to walk through them until we get to Carolina and then we don't know what to do when they are just as good or better than us. I think Dabo is the answer but we need to recruit some NASTY players. We need to get that old Clemson attitude back. Not ready to throw in the towel yet.....just makes it even more urgent to get things going the right direction especially with Carolina having their best 5 year span in athletic history.

/\ /\ /\ AMEN! I compare it to going to school in SC (or Miss - both are terrible in SAT scores) all your life and then going to Harvard. Then you realize that SC schools do not prepare you for BIG BOY school. ACC football does not prepare us to play football with the BIG BOYS! Clemson has got to put BIG BOY schools on our schedule.
Congrats to the Tigers on back-to-back 10 win seasons.
