Swinney on Syracuse QB comment

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney made a brief mention of Syracuse starting QB Garrett Shrader's postgame comment that everybody knew that the Orange should have won Saturday with how their defense played:
"The (Syracuse) quarterback after the game said everybody knows they're supposed to win, and heck, I agree with him. If the team we're playing turns it over four times and we don't win, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. He's right in that. But it's also -- further accentuates the courage of our guys. The mental toughness of our guys. Their will to win. Their belief. It might be another 20 years in football that I'll be able to count on one hand games I won like that. You just don't usually win games like that. That's a sign of a special group. We're certainly not perfect and we've yet to put it all together, but man have we won a lot of ways."

Good on Dabo! But what would you expect? Did Babers come to our locker room to congratulate us on our effort? (Hey, not knocking Dino - but you gotta admit he’s no Dabo!).
The issue I have with Shrader (and Chestnut) is claiming the ‘W’ BEFORE the game. Oh, the helmet slapping, flexing, chest pumping after a lot of their tackles wasn’t too ‘endearing’, either.

I can only recall two other games under Dabo where we were on the verge of scoring and instead fumbled the ball way for a TD the other way - West Va in '11 and FSU '13. Both snowballed into ugly blowouts. But not Saturday. Not this time.
From corralling that to stonewalling Syracuse in the 2nd half to mixing it up at QB for different looks and pace and the FG3 there late that forced Dino and Co to have to go all the way - just a brilliant coaching job in the face of adversity, and success, and tremendous teamwork and belief from our boys all the way.
Awesome time for an Open date.

You are correct. Poster above mentioned BC game in 2020 - 97 yard fumble return from the BC goal line that put us down 14 early in the 2nd. Similarly we stonewalled BC in the 2nd half and clawed our way back for the W. DJ's first start for the Covided TL.

Sure he ran his Pie Hole pre game. But they way he led off with talking about the way their defense played, HE KNOWS the offense, led by him, didn't hold up their end by only scoring 14 points

That's what I've been saying, we've been beating all these teams (3 Top 15) without playing a single clean game. Either 100 yrds in penalties or 4 turnovers and still win. Any opponent we play that gets that much help from us and still lose should feel some type of way...just as embarrassing for them.
