That is why Monte has no business in a Clemson dugout

He pinch hits a freshman with virtually zero experience in a situation with men on 2nd and 3rd, down by 2 in the ninth, with two outs. In the most dire situation he loses his mind time and time again.
All because he’s a slave to analytics and didn’t want a lefty lefty matchup. He takes a 4th year player out who’s had a bunch of big hits in his career for a freshman no one has ever heard of. To face a legit college pitcher. And guess what, the freshman is clueless and strikes out looking at a fastball belt high.
When the game is on the line, he makes the wrong move nearly every time. Absolutely zero feel for the game of baseball. At least we won’t have to worry about him much longer.

Totally agree. How can any sane person disagree? Hope this is Monte's last season.

Figured it would get TD'd. The kid gets a hit, or better yet, a dinger and he and Monte look like heroes. So hindsight is 20/20. But, if you're going to play the averages, then Fairey was due. It's a two edged sword no doubt...
I do agree with your overall assessment. If you are going to pinch hit there, then pinch hit a veteran. You didn't need power there, just a solid hit. I'm sure we have someone in the dugout with more experience. I really think you have to stick with Fairey in that situation.

How can any Baseball head coach think a batter that has only had 4 at bats coming in would make a difference in that pressure situation

An incompetent coach would think that. Monte has watched "The Natural" too many times.

What evidence do you have that we have more talent than State? Remember their record the last years.

I agree completely. He is more loyal to his statistics than his players. I saw where he basically blamed the pitchers for not executing instead of his decision making. Ingle in the OF and Grice in center? Then Grice misses a ball that an actual centerfielder may have caught. Leaving Ammons in to allow more runs when he clearly wasn't on today. Lee is bordering on clown status at this point.

Listening to the broadcast on the computer, the color commentator (Marty Clary) said for two or three innings that our pitchers were not able to get their sliders over the plater and the State batters were sitting on fast balls. It sure looked that way to me too. Isn't that one of the things that pitching coaches and head coaches look for. Do you have to wait until you are down three or four runs to make a change? I was really disappointed that loading the bases twice in the last two games, with no out, only produced one run. I know that's baseball, but hopefully it will change.

How many ACC series have we won in the last few years? This is not funny anymore. Things are not getting better. What would the team's record have to be at the end of the year for Monte to be retained? Are we just going to keep him indefinitely like Brownell?
