Top 200 MLB draft prospect and Clemson RHP signee Aidan Knaak has not been selected in the three-day draft and looks like there's a good reason why, according to his hometown paper:

future of college sports at all. We are bidding against "several teams" for a kid who already signed to play baseball for us? Hopefully this was against professional teams, not other college ones.

I hope you're right 76er. If other college, it's sad. Really can't wrap my brain around college athletics anymore. If you can really call it college athletics that is. I guess it's just like a job, because its not a commitment.

Folks, he was already a signee to Clemson. There would be a need for Clemson to release him if other schools were tampering. I believe this was offers he was hearing from major league teams heading up to the draft.

Goodness, Tiger fans hit the panic button if we don’t get such and such athletes. They go pro or are pursued by other schools ( baseball, basketball or football). Hold on to your commode seats, we’ll be ok!! Getting them here is one thing, having them coached up to the next level while at CU is another. Go Tigers!!!

Relax, this is a reference to MLB teams. Not other schools. The teams talk with players ahead of the draft to see what $$ figure they will need to sign and not go to school.

If they were offering 5th round pick, he would sign a MLB contract of about $350,000. Not sure that a NIL wouldn’t pay more.

I was actually at the Clemson baseball camp at which Aidan was offered…Monte Lee saw about 2 pitches and immediately moved behind the mound to see more…because the velo was so exceptional. I was hoping we could land him and keep him. Great news.
