A great job by Larry Williams to get Tyler to open up a bit about his comments and life. Here's the link to a rare free story from Tiger Illustrated... https://clemson.rivals.com/news/tyler-vs-dabo

Sounds like his eyes may have been opened a little. Others on here should read this as well. You can tell someone to go to h311, but you can do it with a little respect.

he also acquitted him quite well in the article. A lot of common emotions the fans are going through. No one really hates Dabo, but many feel that 4-4 is b/c of not adapting. If he had adapted, then 4-4 would not be fun, but I there'd less angst from many fans.

Dabo and Tyler sits down and have a beer. Dabo will make Tyler another assistant of some kind. Probably help lead a council group or something.

At the risk of incurring the wrath that is to follow. I agree. Dabo would be wise IMO to seek out this young man and have a conversation.
It would go a long way in healing a divided fan base and set an example our world desperately needs right now. Guarantee you it would be picked up by every major news and sports outlet.

Oh. So you prefer Yes men? Look the guy is just as passionate as the rest of us. I'm 50 and I've thought about calling in and asking some of the tougher questions. I wouldn't insult the man, but I think all fans have a right to have questions and if given the opportunity, to ask those questions. Dabo has accomplished great things at Clemson, but he is nieve if he really believes that those accomplishments don't come with a price. Once a fan base experiences greatness, don't expect them to willingly return to below average. Even if only for one season.

This feels like a contrived and calculated grab for clicks from Tiger Illustrated. How did Larry Williams get this guys info?? Must’ve already had it before he called in.
Also, I know a lot of 20-something’s like Tyler. I’d never give them a job. They think they deserve now what someone who’s worked 25 years finally got. Entitled, insecure, and in need of a safe space. Lacks emotional maturity.

Learned all I needed to know about Tyler early in the article. All the Clemson football he can even remember is Bowden and Dabo. Twenty five years and maybe 2 losing seasons the whole time. He didn't sit through years of Tommy West, Red Parker, and Hootie Ingram. He doesn't appear to know much about adversity in life, much less on the football field, although this little incident seems like it may produce some personal growth . Not giving Dabo a complete pass. For a 53 year old man, he seems to have a thin skin. Maybe I don't follow football close enough but I can't remember too many coaches with his experience going off on fans that way. Should have stopped him earlier, said thanks for the call and moved on to the next caller. Like someone said earlier, the big loser from that exchange was Clemson.

Dabo calling someone that he doesn't know or know anything about an idiot isn't very impressive either. If you are going to cash the checks then you need take the arrows. I happen to agree with Tyler. He could have been more tactful and so could have the coach.

I think the worst thing Tyler did was not really ask a question, but read off a laundry list of complaints.
I wasn't a fan of Dabo's response either. Unnecessarily dividing people when he doesn't need to. Next week's call in show might be appointment radio if we get boatraced by ND. Does Tyler try to call back in?

and even invite him to join rhettfla and me deer hunting Friday morning. But I would also give him some advice based on more than twice as many years on earth and three times as long as a Tiger fan as he has been. And that is, it is okay to be upset with the way things are right now but also realize that nobody outside the program knows nearly as much as everyone inside the program and making a lot of public noise is nothing more than just noise and doesn't lead to anything positive. I am in total agreement with him about the 1st down runs up the middle and yell my head off in the stands before and after they do that. But I am not calling in to confront a proven leader about things I don't like and imply that I know more than he does.

I think it's kind of funny he asked what so many wonder about. Like Dabo said though, it doesn't help recruiting or with our players on the roster. Other than that, i find it bold and pretty fascinating he went all out like that.

As a fellow Viet Nam veteran with Clover and a fellow Marine with Tyler, I am will always have their six, even when they are wrong. I will not try and justify something that was ill timed and spoken or done in the wrong venue, but Tyler has admitted such. I was expecting somewhat of an apology from Dabo on his response, as there were parts that he should have stepped back from. To this point, only one of the combatants has admitted that they were wrong in the way what they perceive as a problem was addressed. Instead Dabo doubled down on it.
Don't get me wrong. I love Dabo and hope he is our coach as long as he wants to stay at Clemson. I just wish that both he and Tyler had handled it differently, especially after a day to think about it.

Thanks for sharing this. Tyler seems to regret his messaging and he was expressing his frustrations like we all have been doing. It’s disgusting how Dabo has jumped on him calling him names, and bringing the wrath of the internet upon him. Ironic how Dabo claims to be so against social media and himself getting jumped on, but has no problem with this young man being harassed and being on the receiving end of it.

I expected Dabo to be the bigger man and express some regret today for how he overreacted to Tyler last night. I am surprised and a little disappointed that he continued to fan the flames today. Not a classy look.

Fake news. Where has Dabo encouraged social media to bring the wrath?
He didn’t.
Tyler ran his mouth and he is catching hell for HIS actions. It’s called life man, make any choice you want but just be prepared to endure the consequences.

15 minutes of infamy through know-it-all bombasity on public airwaves!
The chicken-sh*t lowlife ought to have the guts to put his name where his big mouth was. Dabo's name was out there; where in the hellll was this idiot's name?
And, yes, I realize he's a former service member. So was I and a helll of a lot of others right here on TNet, who also think that character was a horse's asssss!

I like Tyler after reading that. He just daid what so many others post and think about on these sites and message boards. He fell on the grenade for others.

Have to agree about the call in show format. If you don't choose to hear from the "other side" don't take calls. Problem solved.

As a earlier poster mentioned, if this Saturday doesn't go well the format of the call in show may be changed.

He’s not used to seeing mediocre football. He assumes Clemson will always be on elite footing. I remember the Danny Years then seeing the slide all the way to the west bottom out then the up tick with Bowden years with some excitement and then to this past decade. So maybe Tyler gets to live through the next phase where we coast back to reality. The NIL is our problem. The advantage goes to the SEC and the schools in the big cities. We are in neither of those categories. It will be an up hill climb.

Sounds to me like Tyler wanted his 15 minutes of fame and he got it. Made a fool of himself. My question is was he the mouth piece of Larry Williams and his 1.5ers on Tiger Illustrated?? Did they find their patsy and use him?

Tyler is clearly a young guy who like most young guy thinks he can say whatever he wants without repercussions.
His own girlfriend came down on him. That and the negative response he is getting from across the board is teaching him some life lessons
I’m glad he learned a lesson, the very hard way. Kudos to him for backing down but the damage was done.

We are seeing that play out these last few years with our football program.

Certainly it applies to everyone, not just Tyler.
Your last line is just another thinly veiled troll attempt at revisionist history. This year is "bad". The last several years were not bad any objective measure.

that he could’ve said some things differently, while Dabo doesn’t.
Nope, Dabo doubled down and reiterated everything he said last night, even calling Tyler an idiot again.

I was a little surprised that Dabo was not remorseful for what he said but I am not sure why. He makes what seem to be emotional remarks to what should be predictable questions. He makes the remark about shedding some people from the bandwagon and then follows that up with the 1.5% remark. Now he attacks a fan for questioning decisions and his salary. He can defend himself without attacking the fanbase. His salary is exorbitant but it is defined by market value. He even had the right answer concerning inside hires by pointing out the success with inside hires, but he used it more as a means of attack than defense.
I just don't understand the repeated attacks on Clemson fans. I want more of us. I don't care if the person hasn't been a fan as long. I don't care if they are more of a casual fan. The more, the merrier. It's not a contest but if Dabo thinks it should be, I would say that I was a Clemson fan when he was all in on Alabama. I appreciate him but I will still be a Clemson fan when he leaves. When he is gone a lot of the people from the bandwagon will still be here, because they are more of a Clemson fan than a Dabo fan.
Dabo will always be a part of Clemson, but he will never be bigger than Clemson, and I think that he needs to understand that.
