Well I guess that answers all the rumors about XT being lazy or distracted in Dabo’s doghouse, and whatever

He started off with the 3rd team for a reason. Coaches don’t tell everything to the media

For all you know, it could have been to see how some of the younger guys looked given the opportunity. A lotta assumptions were made earlier on. Granted it was very quiet on XT except said rumors...
If Coach V says he’ on his way, then that’s good enough for me

The perfect example of what Venables is talking about on gap assignment. The Bryant tackle on the goal line with the shuttle pass in the championship game.
Bryant is free to rush at the QB but he chokes down and waits... it's not his assignment. I think it is Tre Lamar that comes flying in to hit Tua. But if you watch, Bryant stops even before he see Lamar coming... Lamar is behind him. But he trusts the assignment and the result is a tackle for a 4 yard loss.
Wanna see what happens on this play when you dont maintain your assignment... see our goal line play... exact same thing but the bama de is not disciplined and they both go for trevor. Shuttle pass to ETN and touchdown.

XT knows coach V is gonna coach him hard and...

if he wants to be great, he is happy for it being hard. He can smile at night knowing he didn’t phone it in if he just takes coaching from coach V.
I am pretty sure he will and he will be smiling when his head hits that pillow.

Those smiles won't be nothing to the smiles he'll have when he is drafted within the 1st 20 slots of the 1st round of the NFL draft when it's time for him to move on!!! That smile will be broad enough to make his ears move backwards!!!

Thanks David. Sounds like he is in no way in a doghouse but rather

Is extremely talented and athletic but also needs to understand where to be and what to do in the plays he isn’t directly chasing the qb. Good to hear. I think he is and will be amazing for us. Also encouraging that others are competing for pt. Says a lot about them if xt isn’t clearly a step ahead.

I get two different takes when i read the article and listen to CBV. Not sure if doghouse is the correct word but comparing to how CBV talked about XT last year and how he talked about Cle his sophomore campaign...
there’s something that definitely is there. Hate to hear comments about taking plays off and “having to bring it...” every play. The last couple years, all you’ve heard is the dline brought it every day- how exceptional the leadership was etc.
That’s what I was hoping to hear from the coaches this year about XT. XT has to step up and lead by example. Sounds like Logan is doing that. Jmho

Sounds legit to me. I was thinking the same way. Venerables will light a fire under him one way or the other.

Agreed. XT is a phenomenal talent and unfortunately sometimes the phenoms lose focus and try to get by on just talent (J. Clowney at USuC*). The great thing is XT has BV and the rest of the Clemson staff to keep him grounded and on the right track. If anyone can help him keep his head on straight it is that group. I hope they do because I’m a big XT fan and want to see him spending a lot of time on opponent’s backfields for the next couple of years!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!! 29 DAYS!!!!
