The nature of football has more time in stoppages than in the actual running of plays, televised or not.
Reviewing plays has made this worse.
TV timeouts and the silly "2 minute warning" are becoming ridiculous, I agree.

It's necessary. Given that the running clock stops for the past 2 minutes of each half.
It was a competition committee compromise to canceling 56 minutes of running clock for the rest of the game.
It also gives the coaches time to remind their players to change their tactics if the score is close.

Not sure if you are a season ticket holder but it’s really bad for the fan in the stands.
Momentum seems hard to obtain when you are constantly starting and stopping.

Those 3+ minute TV timeouts are awful when you are in the stands. And the guy with the digital clock in the e field makes it even worse.

I know the math of today (I can't help my grandkids) is different, but a game is 60 minutes so even in new math, the actual game cannot be 9% of the broadcast time. You have been in E learning too long.

Yeah. Same for regular tv shows. Nothing but commercials (mostly pharma) and very little programming. This is not the way it was back in the day.

Yep thank goodness for streaming and forwarding through all that stuff.
Watch a 2.5-3 hr football game skipping the commercials. You will be amazed.

I record most games I watch.
The most intriguing game is prioritized and watched live as other games are broadcast simultaneously.

Hate to say it but the pace of the NFL game is much better than college. Prime time games are almost unwatchable.
