It was a legal forward pitch/pass. Just like when you have a halfback pass after they receive a pitch, or a flee flicker. The ball never went forward before the forward pitch.

Just another way officiating controls the outcome of every game. Get rid of them. Completely wrong here. And a forward pass was never made so the forward pass was okay. Not illegal.
