We BEAT a surging Syracuse team in a close one. We thus set them on a different trajectory than they might have been on. An unbeaten team can build confidence, can have more to play for, etc...bringing them back to earth could have been a system shock that is unrecoverable to come back from. If you ask me this happens every year to teams we play.
Heck, look at Louisville 2016 post loss to Clemson.

They left they’re season on our field, Babers doesn’t know how to keep his kids heads in the game. I mean that’s what it looks like to me, like you said we all saw it happen last year.

A lot of folks had high hopes for the ACC in general, the outlook was favorable, we had all these big coaching names coming in after killing the SEC on rivalry weekend a few years in a row, in comes Fuente, Richt... but then Fisher leaves and this year The ACC looks horrible, FSU is a joke, Taggart doesn’t look like the answer, I know it’s way too early but I just have that gut feeling he won’t do much. VT lost to ODU.... really, good god man.

Or maybe this Clemson team is beatable. The two games against decent teams were nailbiters but somehow they are supposed to beat the best team they've played all year by 17. Sounds fishy to me.

The wuss pack is 5-0 and Vegas still has them as a 17-point dog... a team that’s only beaten Clemson twice in the last 15 years.
