Supposed to be. We only have one household name on D

this year, Simmons. Last year, we had several. Our DLine is not as stout and BV has had to make adjustments and plan the game accordingly.

Another thing to note about this stat as well is that Alabama had a better run oriented team than LSU. So our strength on the line was able to go toe to toe with their run offense. This year, we lack that integrity in the line but make up for it in the secondary, which is what LSU’s offense is oriented for. If this team was going against last year’s Bama team, we wouldn’t have held them to 16.
Statistically, Bama averaged 47ppg last season. This year, LSU averages 48ppg. Similar but do it differently. All about strengths playing into strengths on defense & we have that matchup again on Monday. I’m more interested to see our O vs their D.

I think Ohio State's defense is better. LSU is better than they were the first 7 games of the season and have a couple starters back from injury now. But they are still not an elite defense like OSU. Although very good. A top 20 D, but not top 5.

The best run stopper (Dexter Lawrence) on the team was suspended for that game and Alabama's rbs averaged over 5 yards a carry. Clemson just got the plays it needed in the redzone and off turnovers.

LSU has not played anyone of substance...Bama ain't got it this year, Georgia is now a joke, Texas was so overrated when LSU played them that we now know the truth...Vandy, Northwestern State, Utah State, Arkansas, Georgia Southern, the Misses and even then they let people score almost at will! They might be a 'goat' but monday night the horns go missing...they are a one horse Johnny and will revert back next season! They are the best in the SEC...if Florida didn't have three defensive starters out vs. LSU they'd probably have beaten them...then Florida would have been the GOAT, just remember the goat always has to come from the SEC! We just can't have strange 'GOATS' running around the NCAA pen!

Nah. Next year's SEC champ will be the GOAT. Until, of course, the following year.

I would have to think so.
I am encouraged, however, by Auburn’s ability to hold them to 23. If those Tigers could do it, I’m optimistic our Tigers can do it, too.
GO TIGERS!!!!

Yes ... that WVU game might have been a bit of an eye opener for Steele too... Certainly made Dabo decide there would be no more learning on the job for Mr Steele at Clemson !!

But then again maybe the OSU game was.
There's no way to know without knowing how the Big 10 compares to the SEC in offense and defense.

Whether or not we shut down their offense on Monday
Jan 10, 2020, 8:45 AM

winning this national championship would probably be the greatest coaching job for our entire coaching staff, possibly in the history of this sport. Think about this 2-year run:
-The decision to start TL slowly then bench KB last year -The Cuse win with Chase -The absolute dismantling of Notre Dame in the semi final -Beating Bama's best team ever by 28 points -Implementing a new defensive scheme for 2019 with flawless implementation and making it one of, if not the best defense in college football after losing the entire DL to the NFL -Undefeated regular season -Beat OSU in the semi finals, who had a great argument for being #1 in the country, probably the best team they have had in decades and looked un-stoppable all year -Beat LSU, who has one of the most prolific offenses in the history of the sport -Complete a 2 year run that consisted of going 30-0 (including 6-0 against SEC teams TAMU, coots, Bama and LSU), 2 state championships, 2 ACC Championships, wins in the Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, 2 National Championships.
Has there ever been a better coaching job than that?

If LSU is held to 3 or 4 scores it will certainly be his best job . Considering that they've ( in the last two games vs UGA and Oklahoma ) scored like they were invisible to those defenses .
We'll need to steal a few of their offensive possessions , whether that's by turnover , trick play or whatever they're as potent an offense as Alabama was in 2018 and some would argue more so .

Dabo probably has this in his back pocket the same way Saban had it in 2015. Saban knew we were the superior offense and had to steal a possession - then that crazy onside? kick happened.
Gotta think our more experienced staff is going to have some stuff for the newbies.

I don’t think the defense necessarily shutdown them down, but I don’t think LSU will score more than 27 points. Clemson’s offense will be on display Monday night and wins by 10+

Even if we don't shut LSU down, but hold them to around 30 points would be a very good achievement. That would be 18 points less than their average points per game. I think shutting them down is almost impossible. Holding them to 24 would be an excellent accomplishment. Auburn being the only team able to do that to LSU.

This is what I think, too. LSU will need big plays to stay in the game & will struggle sustaining drives.
